Android Central Question

I have a Motorola Moto G3, and my Sandisk 32g SD card became corrupted a few days ago- apps weren't working on it, it was causing my phone to stall, etc. I had it looked at, and eventually it showed up as corrupted and wouldn't read anything on it, however once it was no longer trying to read it, the phone acted fine. I shut it off for the night, and the next day when I put it back on (today), it now is shutting off every ten or so minutes, in the middle of whatever I'm doing. When I go to the storage, the SD card, which read 'corrupted' yesterday, is now stuck on 'Checking'. I'm assuming this is what's causing the issue, but I don't know what to do about it. The SD card never worked well - no options to move media onto it, no eject button, no unmount. The SD card has also never been recognized by my computer, even when it was working. But now, I cannot access any options for it. I feel like unless I make the phone forget the card, or physically remove it, the phone will continue to shut down. What can I do to force the phone to stop trying to read this damaged SD card and causing shutdowns?
