Costco - do not sell before 12-14

I hate the name Galaxy Nexus. I would call this phone the Nexus Prime all day, the same as I would've called the Bionic "Targa" had I not liked "Bionic".

I'm sure there're other folks who agree with me on that.

I've never understood why so many people are such big fans of that name. Don't get me wrong....I really like the Transformer movies, I own all 3, but giving it that name just makes the phone sound like it should have an Autobot logo on it somewhere with arms and legs that fold out of it somewhere.....

I'm so with u there.

lol some people on this particular thread seem like they will believe anything. Everybody needs to remember that Verizon (and authorized retailer) sales people, reps, managers, etc. don't have any concrete information about anything having to do with this device.

I'll admit I like Transformers myself and "Optimus Prime" is a kickass name... but Nexus Prime resonates more with me because of the meanings the word has. In of itself I find that "Prime" is such a great word imho.

"Galaxy Nexus" to me is nothing but a play on marketing by Samsung to promote their line of phones, so to me it almost feels dirty just because of that. It's not a spontaneous name that really defines what the Nexus brand stands for.

But it's all a matter of perception; everyone will see it differently, so it'd be pointless to even bring it up in discussion.

Prime is kind of geeky/nerdy. Just like the Droid name. This is due to its SciFi connections.

Droid was a good plan for really getting people into Android.. But phone providers need to have product names and phones that appeal to the masses.. It 18 to 35 year old men.

If were marketed as a true "Prime", the keypad would be missing the 4, 6, 8, and 9 keys.

Now that would make it a unique phone, lol...

Sorry, failing (or "flailing") in the Humor department today... Actually, anything to liven up the sniping going on in the thread lately...

Why does a company using their trademarked name to promote their products feel dirty to you?

I can understand delays when the device hasn't even shipped, I do not understand delays when there are boxes of the things sitting in stores all over the US now, from the sounds of it... help me understand why Verizon is still delaying it... it's a Nexus so software updates come from Google, right? Not Verizon... so we shouldn't be waiting on a software update that would be installed after purchase?
We've all had plenty of time to break down and get one of their other devices by now, so what is the holdup?

Maybe the device isn't in all locations yet?

Galaxy nexus sounds so bad to me. I even feel foolish saying it when I ask or talk about it. Nexus prime or anything with nexus at the beginning sounds so much better IMO. It's just matter of personel taste I guess.

Did Costco sell the Bionic on the same day as it was released in corporate stores? after? before?

Yes they did, I went to costco and put my name on the wait list. I then went to Verizon and ask them to match the bundle that costco was giving and they could not believe it. They said no and I left, in the parking lot my phone rang, it was costco saying that my phone was ready. Costco had to wait on fed ex to deliver. Best thing I ever did was return it 14 days later with a no restock fee.

Talked to one of verizon employees in Palisades park, NJ. He told me it was delayed to be released on 15th. Hope this is true.
