Costco - do not sell before 12-14

I can understand delays when the device hasn't even shipped, I do not understand delays when there are boxes of the things sitting in stores all over the US now, from the sounds of it... help me understand why Verizon is still delaying it... it's a Nexus so software updates come from Google, right? Not Verizon... so we shouldn't be waiting on a software update that would be installed after purchase?
We've all had plenty of time to break down and get one of their other devices by now, so what is the holdup?

Until now it was co named the prime! Troll eh?

No it wasn't. The name has always been Galaxy Nexus since Samsung very first announced the phone officially. "Prime" was only used during development of the project before the marketing teams at Samsung and Google decided the official name.

since there actually was a nationwide LTE outage, Verizon probably wanted to ensure stability in their LTE network when the Galaxy Nexus launches, especially when you need to activate the LTE Sim card for each g-nex. but since the LTE network is back up and running, i'm sure we'll see an announcement and release very soon.

Verizon has obviously been very picky with the release of the G-nex, more so than other phones, so they definitely don't want anything to hinder/screw-up the release. How bad would it have looked for Verizon if they had actually released the G-nex on the 9th and nationwide reports start flowing in about everyone having problems activating their phones (due to, hypothetically, there still being LTE network issues preventing SIM cards from being activated)?

I am fine with waiting a few extra short days but is anyone else a little let down that the costco bundle only comes with a screen protector, car charger and a leather pouch?

That is the most likely cause of the delay. If the LTE network was down upon the Nexus being sold, Verizon would likely be dealing with a lot of product returns and unhappy customers.

Next week... I can deal with.

Anything after that, I'm out. As in: literally out of the country until January and won't be able to buy it. :(

Verizon just called me to tell me its delayed yet she wouldnt tell me a date the first time I called so how was it delayed:-X

omg who cares what he called it. where he works, they've obviously gotten their shipment in of the Galaxy Nexus.

ezduzit: any news at all from your camp about the release or when you can sell the phone?

No release date, software issues as of now.

Some internal best Buy documents call the phone the nexus prime. So alot of bby mobile guys call it the prime. We got our shipment today as well. Or so my coworker says. We usually get truck on tuesdays and thursday so it makes sense.

Geez, some of you are a holes.

Regardless of how many pictures you post, the problem is you didn't even call the device by its correct name. Tough to rebuild credibility after that..

@Ezduzit, the other problem is you posted the picture after the first post, which was worthless and uninformative in so many ways.

While the majority of us here in this forum most certainly appreciate the picture and all the worthwhile info you have given us (and that includes me), you started off pretty horrendously...

think before you post please...

ok makes sense, they only have 3G where I live so they should sell it to us TODAY!!!
Here's my latest communication w/Verizon... just now:

Luis: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?
You: I live in an area w/only 3G I will be able to upgrade to Galaxy Nexus when it is available, correct?
Luis: Correct.
You: no idea when it will be available?
Luis: Tomorrow.
AWESOME thanks so much :-):
Luis: You're welcome.
Luis: Did you have any other questions?
You: no thanks, have a good rest of your day
Luis: You too.
Luis: Thank you for visiting Verizon Wireless; it?s been a pleasure chatting with you. Have a great day!

Ok, Phil has already asked everyone to relax a little. At first glance, sans pic, the first post by Ezduzit appeared to me to be a lulz post because he called it the Nexus Prime. The phone has been known as the Galaxy Nexus since the Google announcement. This whole subforum was renamed from Nexus Prime to Galaxy Nexus. Calling other members names is uncalled for and doesn't help anyone. Please heed Phil's advice, and let's all put our focus back on the eventual release.

I hate the name Galaxy Nexus. I would call this phone the Nexus Prime all day, the same as I would've called the Bionic "Targa" had I not liked "Bionic".

I'm sure there're other folks who agree with me on that.

While I commend you, that is basically baiting the CSR. When they say "yes you can buy it tomorrow," you need to follow that up with "I thought the phone was being pushed back from that date" to see if they know something you don't, or if you know something they don't. This chat alone really says nothing.

On another note:

Just found this random page that leads to vzw's website which was linked to the banner ad, photo attached.

Verizon Wireless

Edit: looks like almost all of the galaxy nexus banner ads are leading to an odd vzw shop link but there isn't an actual galaxy nexus page. it's just blank. maybe a placeholder for the actual product?
