Could Samsung new update affect other phones?

My mom has an iPhone 5. I have the note 8. Since I updated my phone to this new version and lost all my sounds when I text my mom she no longer gets a tone notification but gets a tone for everyone else like normal. I tried to assign a new tone to my contact on her phone and still nothing. Could it be possible that my new update affects my contact info on other phones?

What her phone does when it receives your text is completely controlled by her phone.
