Hitachi announces high-res 4.5-inch IPS display for smartphones with improved glasses-free 3D -- Engadget
Hitachi apparantly has developed an IPS display (like the screen tech found in the iPhone 4) that has 720p resolution and a different, supposedly better glasses-free display technology than the common Parralax Barrier tech found in current mobile devices. Apparantly this, uses aa Lenticular lens approach that makes the 3D images "brighter". No word on if this tech produces larger viewing angles or puts less stress on the eyes.
If this all pans out, I would like to see HTC experiment with this tech for the next Evo. If the Rumors are true regarding the next generation Nexus phone having a 720p display, It would make perfect sense for HTC to ready an Ice Cream Sammich (sic) powered 3rd Gen Evo with this screen tech. (And do it preferably before Apple.
