CNET recently posted an article about HTC having to pay a fine for not fixing a security issue and patches were rolled out according to HTC:

Could that be the recent update we just got?? Verizon didn't really give us any information besides "device enhancements"..

from the last sentence of the post...but it still could be the reason.

HTC's devices running Android 4.0 already include a fix to these security issues.
