So my wife gave me a 10.1 galaxy tab for Valentines day, awesome gift btw, and I decided the 8.9 felt better in my hands, so long story short, I am now the owner of an nice new 8.9. It is amazing, so glad I chose this one, the 10.1 was equally amazing, just felt awkward. Excitement aside, I have a couple of questions..
Gmail app, is there a way to "always show pictures"? I want to like this app, since I use gmail every day and I really like the push function, but I hate that it displays all the emails so awkwardly. The native samsung app is just as beautiful, but alas no push, only a "check for new messages every X". I like the idea of being notified when I have new mail, not that I get a lot, but it's still nice. I just don't like the email displays in the gmail app.
Also, related to the email, lets say I do use the native Samsung email app, and since I am android power scared being a thunderbolt owner, I have my WiFi sleep policy set up to turn WiFi off when the screen is off (different sleep policy on my thunderbolt, this is just for the tablet), so would my email app still try to sync with the screen off and no WiFi connection, every say 30 mins or whenever I have it set to check? Does the tablet just "go to sleep" when the screen turns off and nothing try's to sync, or are things running in the background.
I guess that moves me to power related issues. Any tips on batter conservation? I have my screen brightness set pretty low, around 30-35%, and I am not too worried about power, just want to make sure there is nothing running in the background that shouldn't be. I have my sync options set up to always sync, and I think I have it set to where it can run in the background as well, so I know I can adjust those.
Anyway, just looking from some helpful tips to get the most out of my new tablet. Still getting a feel for it, but so far, I am really liking my choice in tablets.
