CrackBerry Kevin on the T-Mobile G1

I was hoping to find a RR Thread started by Casey to ask:

I would assume that all you guys would choose the device you own as your favorite.
A BB user is going to choose BB as their favorite. Iphone user is going to choose Iphone.
What would be your second choice?

iPhone = 3 (Casey, Jennifer, Kevin)
Bold = 1 (Rene)
G1 = 1 (Dieter)
Treo = 0
Fuze = 0

Thanks,
I totally missed that.

That tells me that no matter what their preferred first device, if they couldn't have the phone they had, they'd prolly get an iphone.

Interesting.

:D

My friend was given an iphone by his new job he just started.
When he went down to att to pick it up, he said they were going out the door like hotcakes!

when android get started in more devices, I hope the marketing department will do a better marketing them... iphone is successful largely due to marketing and the big apple brand.

Exactly, why were people lining up at stores to get the iphone when it was released? - Ads!

People knew the iphone was coming that weren't even phone geeks.
And I have friends who like cool phones, and yet haven't even heard of the G1.

i was in UC berkeley for 5 days. throughout the 5 days i saw countless of iphones.. the number of G1? 1. and the person was playing Pacman while walking

I can completly agree. I feel like people are afraid of a device that is just not superior, only in hype. There was almost no marketing compared to the iPhone. There was not even primetime stuff, and the commercials that I have seen are horrible for the G1. I just dont understand who is in charge of this, marketing will bring in the money, they need to let people know exactly what this device is and is capable of. Whenever I explain it to someone they are like "Wow I wanna get one".

You don't like the "Questions" commercial? I have seen it many times, especially on pro basketball broadcasts, despite not watching much TV. It is more appealing to me than the bland iPhone commercials.

Considering that the G1 is in stores only in T-Mobile's limited 3G area, it has sold well and easily equals the number of iPhones sold during its first couple of months. That is despite T-Mobile having nearly one-third the subscribers of AT&T or Verizon in the U.S.; so, G1's market penetration is actually much greater than the iPhone's. Also, T-Mobile is prominent in Europe where the G1 is sold. With more Android handsets coming out in 2009 I doubt we will be lacking for marketing.

Does anyone know what the specs of the new Palm phone coming out this week are?

A little discussion went about a possible onscreen kb also.
That way you wouldn't have to walk around with the kb out for every little bit of text you may want to enter.

Palm Pre is not going to have onscreen kb at least for now, based on the preview videos
