Cracked my HTC ONE screen!!!

Best buy insurance can be had for $170 and it gets you a replacement with unlimited claims for two years within a few days. ;)

Sent from my HTC One

Just to let everyone know.. I was just in Best Buy the other day and they let me know that their insurance has changed. Basically the same as carrier insurance (9.99/mo and covers anything other than lost or stolen with a deductible and max 3 claims). They said it changed on 9/1, and the guy that I was talking to said that he even thinks you're better off with carrier insurance than theirs now.

This is a change from the policy that I have on my wife's iPhone that I got through best buy a year and a half ago.. I paid up front to save a few dollars over the life of the insurance, but it would have been 9.99/mo and it is no deductible and up to 3 claims still not covering lost or stolen. She has a small crack on the face of the phone (not over the screen, down by the home button) and he said we just have to let them know we'd like a replacement and they will order one, takes 3 business days and then we go back to transfer everything to the new one at no cost to us.

It's sad to see them downgrade their insurance that much. It was one of the best out there and now it's almost pointless as their deductible is comparable to carrier's and it doesn't cover it if it's stolen! The Best Buy rep said that he is hoping they will switch it back eventually, but we will have to wait and see.

Ifixit rates the repairability of the HTC One a score of 1 out of 10. The phone is basically sandwiched and glued together. Check out this article here HTC One 'Impossible To Repair' Says iFixit - Mobility - Smartphones -

Sorry probably not what you want to hear.

It's actually easy to take it apart you just don't have the right tools. Only HTC does and they won't explain to anyone what that special tool is. Secret bastards lol.

A drill fell on my screen and smashed it 2 months after buying my HTC One. Didn't waste my money on the carrier insurance, HTC quoted $180 to fix. Since I bought the phone on my AMEX, they have accidental damage coverage within the first 90 days; I paid $99 for the phone which AMEX gave me back, so it only cost me $80 total to fix.

The phone is on its way back to me now from HTC, looks like they'll have it back to me within a week! Highly recommend checking out American Express's free and built-in coverages and extended warranty programs.

I just called a local guy that works out of his house with excellent reviews. He told me that the parts are very expensive, the screen is maybe $200 or more, and he doesn't fix them. I was very surprised. I guess HTC would be your best bet. So sorry this has happened to you.

To be honest I was just looking up prices for the screen it's less than 100 dollars so if u get ahold of that guy ask if they could just swap out the part should be simple enough I have done the same thing to many iPhones and the HTC one x
