Cracked screen after 5 days of ownership

That story does sound a bit shady. It's plausible, especially if she keeps it in a purse, but I've been using my Dinc in cold weather a lot (in New Jersey and NYC) and this hasn't happened. However, I also have a screen protector and a case. and keep the phone in my pocket.

"shady" or not, it is what she told me so I have to go with that since I wasn't physically there to see it happen. And, good for you never having a problem with your phone, BRAVO. My son has the same phone bought at the same time and hasn't had a problem either.

But touchscreen devices do need special attention. Weather can affect them.

THANK YOU! I rest my case even though it means that I still have to pay for the cracked screen to be replaced. The woman I deal with at Verizon Express said she will order the replacement screen and have a tech replace it for $70, problem is, she hasn't called yet to say the screen is in. But, either way, it's a bit cheaper than spending the $100 on the insurance deductible.

Again, as far as how this crack happened (it's in the lower left corner at the bottom above the buttons, spiderweb sort of crack that does not extend across the entire screen. . . yet), I have to go on my daughter's word how it happened, so I am not trying to gain sympathy or trying to "prove" that she did it or the weather did it. I was and am just disgusted that the Droid broke within 5 days of owning it and finally getting her to get rid of her Envy (original one mind you!) that she loved. Thanks for all your help though, it's appreciated (snarky comments though, not so much)!

Sorry dude, didn't mean to offend you. Glad you are getting it fixed though. It was a ***** to see my wife's phone crack within the first month. I swore of Motorola forever after that. Plus, HTC does Android WAAAAAAYYYYYY better anyway.

I didn't mean to offend you, and sorry if it came off that way. Just saying that this is pretty rare. I can see how it could happen, though.

My screen also cracked after being outside in the cold. It was not dropped or abused in any way. It has a clear screen protector as being in a leather flip case. I was taking pictures outside my car window when the temps were about 35 deg. When we got home and went inside thats when I saw the cracked screen. Of course At&T and Motorola can only repeat the mantra: the screen is cracked you're responsible. Sent it in to Motorola for evaluation by their so-called tekkies and the same response. Another phone call and they agreed to reevaluate. Really ticks me off b/c they obviously have a defect in their product but wont take responsibility.
