I have noticed that my earpiece has a terrible crackling sound and called the guys at RS. I asked my guy (Eric) if anyone had reported it yet and he said no. It had only been an hour since I left the store. He said to give it a day or two and theyd be happy to replace it if need be.

My friend, who picked his up with me, just reported to me he has the same crackling sound. And, like me, he had to lower the earpiece volume because it was bad.

I mostly use bluetooth and external speaker so its not that big a deal but it is an irritant. Is this isolated to our batch of phones (maybe UPS threw them out of the truck) or is anyone else having this problem?

Yes I too am having this problem. Not on every call though. The first call I made on the device it was pretty bad and I just thought it was a bad connection. The next few calls still had the crackling sound but not as bad. Now I'm definitely disappointed to see someone else report the same thing. I wonder how many others are having this problem.

When I set up my voice mail, the "test voice mail message" from Sprint sounded really bad. Kind of a cackling thing, but a higher pitch and just very "digitized" (for lack of a better term). The instructions for the VM were a much better quality, the test VM was bad.

Same problem here it sux is very annoying. My friend picked his up at the same time and his is fine, lucky me right. The guy at RS told me to go in tomorrow maybe ill get a new one.

Please report back after you get the new one. I'm holding out hope that it may just be a bad batch that got mishandled somewhere along the way.

I cant get another if I wanted man my pre was awesome but this one can do so much more ill stick it out be rooting within a week. thats how long it took me on the pre.

yep same here, only does it when volume is all the way up and when the phone is ringing it's really bad...

One call had a little crackle I thought maybe it was the body glove case but I tried many other calls and no problem.

welcome to sprint LOL never had a problem with my incredible :)

So far, mine is every clear. The sound quality is slightly better than my Inc. ;)

It's an HTC issue. They always seem to put out some % of new devices that have poor earpieces or speakers. Plenty of people complained about the same issues with the Inc.
