Cracks - is it a real issue

I have a Nexus 7 (2013) and am very interested in the Nvidia Shield Tablet for its gaming capabilities. I keep seeing in the forums that there is a problem with cracks around the edges. I can't tell if its a serious problem or simple a few bad devices in the hands of people who are very loud. What are peoples experiences?

I had cracks. Pretty noticeable too. Nvidia sent me a new replacement.

I believe this issue was addressed back a while ago, they did some manufacturing tweaks in the production line I think.

I get my new device tomorrow, mine was a launch unit and developed 1 crack, true to there word no questions ask, sent a pic of the crack, 3 days later got the prepaid box, returned same day, took 2 days to get to them, 2 days with Nvidia then shipped out 3 day shipping. Very easy and very helpful... Best of all I bought a used ST so now I get a brand new one for $225

Cracks were fixed in the later models. I beat the hell out of mine, No cracks.
