Credit card text messages

I have a Hero and over the past couple of days I have gotten a few text messages saying there is a problem with my credit card and to please call the number given.

I know this is bull because 1) I haven't given my cell # to either of my credit card companies, 2) the card # they give is not one of my card numbers plus its only 11 digits instead of 16, and 3) it said Mastercard and I have Visas.

Has anyone else had this happen? I know a legit bank isn't going to contact you via text anyway unless you have specifically signed up for some kind of text service or option.

I never had this happen with my blackberry or my instinct phones and I'm wondering if it could be an app that I've installed.

Nothing to do with Android or your current phone. I got them on my BB, my son gets them on his Instinct and my wife gets them on her LG Lotus. (haven't got one yet with my Moment, but it's only a few days old)

I am guessing since you said you used to use an Instinct and have a Hero, we have found the common problem................Sprint.

Yep. I think we all get them once in a while. I've noticed the last few I've gotten were to claim my Irish Lottery winnings
