Current AT&T users: happy or unhappy?

We.were.but the discussion was about throttling. I brought up what I knew of throttling and someone said they did not believe me. The information I referenced was from Verizon and I stated that in my earlier post.

However it is probably true of most carriers in one form or another.

AT&T in Philadelphia has been excellent for me. Switched from Verizon a few weeks back and very happy about it. Mainly a data user, yes I'm capped at 3GB but it doesn't matter. I'm on Wifi at home and work so I only use about 2GB a month. Overall it's been a great experience.

Re: current AT&T users. happy? not happy?

Very unhappy with AT&T. Going to pay ETF and go to Sprint. Service steadily declined in the past year despite calls to customer service. I'm just really upset that service that used to be great in my home stinks to the point of no calls coming through let alone being dropped. About 6 months ago I asked if they would sell me a micro cell tower to improve my service. They said no, that it was only for areas with virtually no signal (not including my home). When i chatted last week with cust. serv. to find out the cost of my ETF's they offered to let me buy a micro cell. I declined saying I thought it was insulting to pay for a device for a better signal when I've already been paying for that "service" monthly. Now I have to pay for a device too? Meh. Just a really tiring and intolerable situation. Gotta go.

Good luck with sprint. Every where I have used it I got horrible signal and terrible data. Wish you the best.

I've been very happy with AT&T in southern Alabama. Had consistently good voice coverage for 10 years. When I finally decided to join the 21st century and get a smartphone, I tried T Mobile... in spite of their claims of "the largest 4G network", I could only get edge here. I lost Verizon's signal completely within a block of my house. I didn't even try Sprint. My speed results with AT&T have been fine, I never come close to maxing out my data and I can't remember the last time I dropped a call. I can't really comment on customer service 'cause I haven't needed it.

Re: current AT&T users. happy? not happy?

Brand new user switching from Sprint to AT&T. So far... not happy at all.

From my desk at work in the heart of King of Prussia, PA:

AT&T average data speed - .15 mbps. No Option to choose 3G\HSPA+\LTE. Speed test app times out a LOT, lol.
Sprint average data speed (3G) - .6 mpbs
Sprint average data speed (wimax) - 8 mpbs
Something is up with your APN settings or your sim is not provisioned right. I am within 10 miles of you, and travel in at least 10 states around us a week and my speeds are never that low any where(Other then edge and thats rare). 5mbps and 3 mbps are the norm on Hspa. (Not plus)

Are you on a new phone with a Sim you already had?

I'm seriously considering jumping from Sprint to AT&T. Two years with Sprint and have experienced terrible signal tons dropped calls which always end up as phone issues . only then they return with the new phones and terrible customer service to the point I refuse to go to the close corp store near me. Tried my best to like the service and the unlimited data plan is the only reason I'm still with them..:banghead:

Same here. Unlimited data sounds good. But have had nothing but sub 200kbps speeds forever.

Oh, and Go Steelers!

Re: current AT&T users. happy? not happy?

I'm also going to be jumping my Sprint family to AT&T. They appear to have dumped a ton of money into Phoenix so I believe they've probably gone from okay to really good or something. Unlimited data with Sprint becomes less appealing when you realize how slow it is.

And I seriously question all the bad press AT&T gets. It just doesn't add up, if they are as bad as all the "studies" claim then why aren't they dying as a wireless company? I'm guessing the negativity is more focused than most people think. They might be really really bad in only certain areas (like NY) and also possibly only with certain devices (iphone saturation), but be decent to good everywhere else. Because some of those places are really dense though, or there are so many iphone users, that might be skewing the results a ton. The sheer amount of negative press just doesn't add up for the nations second largest carrier. I'd expect them to be in third to last place. Just a thought.

AT&T has provided the only reliable signal I have had in SE metro Phoenix with the exception of places that you would think you really need it, like the hospital on Dobson in Chandler and the doctor's offices a few blocks away. Other than that, no dropped calls and great reception all over town. OTOH, as for them dumping a ton of $$ for LTE in Phoenix, it seems that is in downtown and the west and north and, of course, Snottsdale. I can't get LTE south of Warner in Chandler, East of Horne on McKellips in Mesa or AT ALL in Gilbert. However, it seems they have some LTE in Florence! WTF!!!! Maybe prisoners are more important than a half million people in Chandler and Gilbert?

Still, AT&T beats the crap out of Sprint, the worst ever unless you live next to their towers on the freeways.

Re: current AT&T users. happy? not happy?

I have been with AT&T for years and have no problems. I live in the west and do not think I have ever been outside of there coverage in the western US. And I love there rollover minutes which saves a bundle if you go over your limit. I had an iPhone 3G through them that used to drop calls a lot but that was just the iPhone and not there network. Since changing to Android I do not think I have droped more than a couple of calls. I am pretty sure that I will stick with them.

Another happy customer here. I've never had an issue with them minus the lousy reception at my Dad's retirement house in Prescott but it wasn't that big of a deal considering my Dad also had issues with Verizon. In town though, all is well. I actually get better speeds with this phone than I did with the iPhone up there.

Re: current AT&T users. happy? not happy?

SO far I am very happy ATT customer!

Great speeds. Corp stores seem easy to deal with. Whats not to like?

People always complain. Negative press gets picked up more than positive.

I also agree. AT&T should be behind sprint with all the negative press you here...
I don' t buy it. Maybe some areas are bad. But that goes with any wireless provider.
How about Verizon with there network crashing so frequently lately thru out the entire country???

Main reason I started this post. I was hoping to get some postive happy AT&T cust to
Chime in.

I think the only reason at&t is still number two is because they got the iPhone first. Had Sprint gotten it they would #2 if not a close 3rd. Remember that when sprint bought Nextel they had close to 100 million customers combine and that was around the time the first iPhone came out. I believe at&t is as bad as people say.

Sorry but they cant be. Have you seen Sprints dial up network lately? Its embarrassing!

Exactly what I was thinking (minus the Phoenix part). I only recently jumped into Sprint, and even though at first i liked it, the speeds I've been getting haven't really convinced me of it bring worth it.

Don't get me wrong, sprint's nice, but only if you don't mind not having the best speeds or better speeds, especially for the amount we're paying.

I'm considering leaving sprint after 8 years due to the nickle and diming they've been doing to my bill and how things keep magically disappearing.

Also I have a 25% discount through my job on a 79.99 plan, but it keeps coming up to over 80 a month.

Also speeds are crazy slow, except 4g, which is still fast. I've gotten 14mbps before, but the coverage is spotty at best and doesn't always work indoors.

3g is just agony most of the time.

I'd switch to att but the data limit is turning me away from it mm.
T mobile is luring me towards them though!

Verizon is just needlessly expensive
