[Custom Recovery] Xionia Clockwork (CWMA v1.2518.6)

I've been trying to reboot into recovery with multiple failed attempts. I was scared I bricked my dad's optimus S for a second because when I first tried to reboot it hung at the LG screen for 10 minutes after I did a battery pull and held down the keys until the LG screen it went to a blank screen for another 5 minutes. then after the battery pull i just let it load normally and it took two tries to boot up so thankfully its not bricked but I don't want to risk getting to recovery again. when i installed after the last command for reboot recovery it just rebooted the phone and i did get the error that the file was not found but kept going as told. should i attempt to boot again or reinstall? i myself have an EVO so this is pretty different for me, I did it all through terminal emulator.

UPDATE: i redid the 2nd part after the backup and entered the last three commands of mount, flash and then reboot and I am again stuck at the LG screen when it reboots. so is this a corrupt file or is there a conflicting setting that prevents me from getting into recovery?

Hi everyone, I'm in need of some assistance. I am trying to copy the nandroids I've made to my PC, so I can free up some space on the SD card. Every time I try to copy them, I get an error in Windows saying "Cannot copy data: The parameter is incorrect". I've put the SD card in an USB adapter and tried to copy to the hard drive and a USB drive. I've also tried connecting the phone and mounting it as USB storage. And it doesn't stop on one particular file either. I am using v1.2518.6. What am I doing wrong? Thank you for the help!

this site is absolutely one of the worst i've ever encountered on the internet. having to fight with the ridiculous registration requirements to click a link? I hate you site admins and hope you all burn in hell. :mad:

You have to unzip both zip files to the root of your SD card first, then try again.

the things people say,how selfish can you be ,all they ask for is registration damn,aint that worth the price for someones hard work"that u get free moocher"thanks to all devs and admin on this site

hello all, I reverted back to ZVD and rooted now I am trying to install Xionia again but keep getting this error. Any Ideas how to get it installed? I used win7-zip to extract the rar too.

C:\Users\Costco>adb shell
$ su
su
# mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /syste
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system
# cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image
cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image
/sdcard/flash_image: invalid length

This is the full list when i try to install Xionia:
C:\Users\Costco>adb shell
$ su
su
# mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system
# cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image
cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image
/sdcard/flash_image: invalid length <-------keep getting this error. Is this what is keeping me from getting to install Xionia?
# chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image
chmod 755 /system/bin/flash_image
# mv /system/etc/install-recovery.sh /system/etc/install-recovery.sh.bak
mv /system/etc/install-recovery.sh /system/etc/install-recovery.sh.bak
failed on '/system/etc/install-recovery.sh' - No such file or directory
# mount -o remount,ro -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system
mount -o remount,ro -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system
# flash_image recovery /sdcard/xionia_cwma_12518.6.img
flash_image recovery /sdcard/xionia_cwma_12518.6.img
#

EDIT: Got it to work on the Forth try

I'm having a similar issue. I type the second terminal command, (# cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image) and get a message saying the file is not found. I've extracted the zip so that flash_image is sitting in my root sdcard directory, so I don't know why there's a problem.

Looks like xxGBlackx (two posts up) and I are having the same problem...

EDIT: I never got it to go away, but I did seem to solve the issue by doing what is said much, much earlier in the thread and installing Root Explorer to my phone ($4!), and using it to copy flash_image to my system/bin directory.

Now I have the same problem with another file. See below.

BTW if you are going back to ZVD and had previously followed the ZVH rooting instructions the support files should still be on your SD card. If that is the case you can just type

$ su
# cd /sdcard/000root
# /system/bin/sh install-xionia.sh
# exit
$ exit

Okay. When I get to the next to last step in the OP, it tells me the xionia file can't be loaded: "no such file or directory".

My sdcard directory is D:, and I've copied both "flash_image" and "xionia_cwma_12518.6.img" to it.

I am doing this:

1) I have adb.exe in a folder on my desktop called Gingersnap (it's left over from when I used Gingersnap to root my 2.2 Froyo installation)
2) I open cmd (the terminal) in Windows 7, and navigate to C:\Users\[UserName]\Desktop\Gingersnap
3) then I type 'adb shell' and get a $ prompt
4) I type su and get a # prompt
5) I type the rest of the commands, but they fail when I get to the next to last step, loading the recovery image
6) it says "no such file or directory"

What am I doing wrong? I've renamed the file to something simple, made sure the file name is EXACTLY right, extracted it from the .rar properly (so it's an .img file sitting in my D: drive).

Halp this noob!

make sure the sd card is NOT mounted and try again :), make it named correctly again though

Huh?!

I have the phone plugged into my PC, and can view all the files on my sdcard using Windows Explorer.

Are you saying I should have my phone plugged in but usb NOT enabled? Are you saying the sdcard shouldn't be mounted in the phone?
