[Custom Recovery] Xionia Clockwork (CWMA v1.2518.6)

Having some issues mounting the flash_image file for Xionia. I am rooted on ZVD, fresh reboot. SU recognizes me from ABD on my computer, but when I type in this line: cat /sdcard/flash_image > /system/bin/flash_image I get "no such file or directory."

I unzipped this file to the sdcard with xionia and my ROM of choosing. Why is the phone not seeing this file on the card?

I found you have to write the line as follows:
cat /sdcard/flash_image.zip > /system/bin/flash_image.zip to not get the error. Besides, the instructions to install don't work if you've screwed up the recovery mode.

Can I install this in my Optimus V?

and, is there a tutorial on installing with ADB, because I have seen it everywere in the forums but I still don't know how to use it..

Thanks!

I was about to just say no, but decided to look it up. Did a simple google search and found this.

http://forums.androidcentral.com/op...guide-optimus-v-modding-read-get-started.html

According to that xionia does work, but as all the devs and users in this section know mostly about optimus s specifically. Dont take me as gospel on this. Heck, i may be flamed for this, but i understand rom manager works for your V to install a recovery(know this as we many many optimus s users brick there phones thinking because it works on the V it must by default work for the S). Good luck, i would ask around in the optimus v section. If you get a for sure from the opti v devs and users we would be glad to help.

how do i start up adb shell ??? i used gingerbread one click root successfully but have no clue how to use this stuff

type "su" without the quotes after adb shell, should change the $ to # (watch your phone, if it asks for permission, hit always allow)

Same issue with me. I never had this problem before Ginerbread.

I upgraded to gingerbread and rooted, but can't get into Xionia. When I complete the instructions and enter the 'reboot recovery' command it just boots back to the Android homescreen.

EDIT: I tried again and suddenly it works. Pretty weird...

what did you do i have the same issue

if you re do all of the commands it works dont know why... probably something to do with the setting up folders and stuff but i dont know i just follow what it says on the screen :P haha this is bad I'm a programmer and I don't understand windows command prompt or android at all
haha I think I will stick to making advanced math programs for my friends to make math homework a bit easier XD

Noob question: Can I use this process with Mac OS?

I have ZVD and rooted using Gingersnap on OS 10.6
I'm concerned because so far I only read Windows users doing this. My goal is to use this in combo with TheKraven's CM7 Port. Any Mac users experience out there?

Some one please point me in the right direction. :):)

I'm having trouble at the first command in this process. I copy the command and paste into terminal and get this:

optimus$ mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system

mount: exec /System/Library/Filesystems/yaffs2.fs/Contents/Resources/mount_yaffs2 for /System: No such file or directory

I double checked my phone against my wifes (her's is unchanged from stock), and she has no such directory either.

You have to execute those commands from a root (#) ADB shell, not on your computer.

Edit: Thank you drewwalton19216801

I successfully installed custom recovery using the terminal emulator on the phone... But the directions just stop there. I don't know what to do. Should I backup my rom, wipe something or just reboot and move on to custom rom install?

I thought I would add a little tip for anyone using there phone to enter these commands. I copied each command line separately and texted them to my phone. That way I could press and hold txt>>copy message txt>> hold home/switch to term emulator>> paste>> repeat.

Then no need to type it. If you are on sprint network just email yourself like so:

Phone#@messaging.sprintpcs.com

The reason I opted for txt instead of email is because you dont have to manually select in texting, it gives option to copy entire message text. Hence if you send each command line separate you shall have all lines available for copy. Remember don't copy the # in each line.

ok i did the adb shell and i have root acess but when i go to flash the image and the cwm it gives this message unable to chmod no such dir. same with the flash.img....need help??

1. You can do any of these processes using a Mac. Their are a few tools, such as the LG Updater tool that are distributed for Windows only, but the Android SDK and ADB are not among them. I did all the operations to my Optimus using a Linux box, except switching between basebands.

2. As for what to do after you successfully root, you will probably want to install the Xionia custom recovery, after which you can do a nandroid backup. That way you always have a restore point if you muck anything up badly.

If you are having trouble installing Xionia by hand, I suggest you use the ZVH root sticky and choose Option C to install Xionia for you.
