[Custom Recovery] Xionia Clockwork (CWMA v1.2518.6)

hey i have a vm670 ive tried just about all i could cant find the gsm 1.1.0 kern. download anywhere phone still talks to computer but all i get is the lg logo and thats it any suggestions i know there are all types of ways but i dont think im getting the big picture on flashing to sd card or leaving them in zip or what if you could please help:(

Stupid question, but before I've mostly used a different recovery where before installing a new rom I would just select "clear cache/data" and then install the new rom. With xionia what should I select before I install a new rom? On the main menu I see "wipe cache partition" and then several other options for formatting under "mounts and storage" (boot, system, data, cache, etc). Thanks.

Your best bet is to go straight to mounts and storage like you did, and wipe boot, system, data and cache. That's how I do it when flashing a clean new rom.

how is the command prompt supposed to look because when i put "# mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock5 /system" it just says the same thing underneath. when i finish does the whole thing nothing happends to the phone

don't type the # sign, that just denotes superuser status. If your prompt looks like this: $, then type su and enter. It should change to #. If it doesn't, or says command not recognized, then you aren't rooted.

Please help me.

I have an optimus v. it's rooted. I have IHO cyanogenmod backside on it. Anyways, I did a factory reset(not realizing the implications) and it became stuck in clockworkmod recovery. (which I guess is called a boot recovery loop). I got it out of the boot loop using a .zip file that I found that's called Xionia_CWMA_12518.4_VM_Recovery.zip. I don't think I installed Xionia though, it looks exactly as it did before. I don't know how it stopped the boot loop. but whatever recovery I'm on right now does not recognize any of my backup rom's (even the one I made this morning). It shows that they are there. I go to restore them, which says it works. Then I go to reboot and a screen flashes (in the milisecond that it's there, I see the words factory reset) So I'm not sure if it's factory resetting every time I'm able to escape the recovery or what. Help on that is greatly appreciated.

Also,
I was thinking perhaps I could just get a different recovery (the newest xionia is supposed to have a feature that stops boot looping) so I've been trying to get this new recovery on my phone for awhile now with little success. I typed in the commands and everything goes through (seemingly fine) but when I execute the reboot in recovery command, it reboots but only in to stock. It doesn't bring up my recovery at all. Please help. I'm clearly not amazing at computers, but I'm trying.
Thank you

Not sure what's causing that, but your question might be better answered in the Optimus V forum (this is the Optimus S forum).

Ok so i had zvd then created a backup with this recovery, then flashed MIUI + CM7, then restored so i could update and root zvj. My zvd backup is zipped and on my laptop. Say I wanted to go back to zvd (currently running rooted zvj thanks to sfhub) could I simply restore it back to zvd?

NO!

You will still have ZVJ radio which = no service with ZVD ROM. You must revert to ZVD, re-root, flash recovery and THEN restore your backup.

The link for the flash_image seems to be broken. Any help? Just rooted ZVD and I want to install this.

EDIT: NEVERMIND! I found the thread for the automated version.

im gonna need some help.

When i try to run adb shell, I get "Error: Device not found."
I've used adb before, but this time i'm getting bootloop on my phone and another thread redirected me here. How much trouble am I in?

This thread is worthless and should be deleted, all it does is give false hopes to us with bricks that there is a fix... Go for the downloads first before you read the entire damned page... I learned that the hard way

Okay, so the link in the OP to a common auxiliary file is broken. You couldn't look for it elsewhere, as suggested, before trashing a quality piece of work, the developer, those who provided feedback and helped others with using it? The directions are clear and instruct you to push all files to your SD card before doing anything.

If you have a brick, that is your fault. (Maybe right after 4:20 is not a good time to play with superuser privileges.)
