I cannot add a custom ringtone from my device storage to either my alarm or phone dialer. This was not a problem on my Galaxy S6 and I was using the same google alarm clock. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix?
Where are these files located when you look for them using a file manager?
Is there any way to add custom sms/message notification to each separate contact? Coming from a samsung phone I use to just go into the individual contact and there was a spot for notification sound and I could change it there.. but I don't see that option?
That is another thing that was much easier in The Samsung Galaxy. On the Pixel you have to open the contact, select edit, hit the menu icon in top right and select "set ringtone". You are right, it was much more intuitive with Samsung.
I tried that... that only changes the ringtone if its a phone call.. it doesn't change the text message notification like a samsung..maybe it can't be done..
Go into a message from the contact you want to change. Hit menu bar on top right. Select "people and options". Select "sound"
Wow...wish my 10 did that. I can only change the ring. Would LOVE to change text notification per contact.Go into a message from the contact you want to change. Hit menu bar on top right. Select "people and options". Select "sound"

I thing that is a feature of google messenger. Try using google messenger as your default text app and see if that works.
I've always used an app called "ringtone maker". It will allow you to select any song on your phone's music selection then edit it to a certain part or length or not edit it at all. Best part is when your done it lets you select which sound file to put it in. My alarm is "here comes the sun" full song version. Love this app. Really makes ringtone customizing and placement easy.
Side note: Crackberry has a bunch of ringtones that Zedge does not carry. It could be worth your time to sign up over there an gain access to it. Download to your phone or email them to yourself from your phone, PC, Mac, laptop or whatever. Then use ringtone maker to edit if desired and then install them wherever sound file you want them in.
