Custom ROM Breakdown?

Planning to root my Hero this weekend. There are enough guides here and on xda-developers to lead me through that process with confidence, but I'm wondering what I'll put on the phone once it's rooted. Ultimately, I'm excited to enjoy some tasty Froyo, but there are lots of finished options already available that would be a vast improvement over stock, and I'm wondering whether anyone has even attempted to compile a feature list of the various custom ROMs?

Regardless, I'll dig my way around and find ones that best match my preferences, but I wanted to make sure I hadn't missed any resources.

Thanks in advance. Looking forward to enjoying and supporting all the work the developers have been doing!

I recommend honeybun from this forum. It is a much better working, faster version of the stock 2.1. 2.2 is great, even faster, but you lose some features that are nice (like the kick ass visual voicemail, and your camera...). If you want a vanilla interface w/o sense UI try darch droid on xda-developers. It is very fast. When you use that one you have to flash google ****s also to get things like the market.

Thanks guys. Recommendations help a lot. Those are both 2.1 builds, I presume? That's probably where I'll go until a complete 2.2 build is finished.

Still, there's no catalog of ROMs someone out there has organized? I feel like I saw one somewhere a while back, but even that was basically just a listing. Ideally, there would exist a list that listed the attributes of each. Wishful thinking, I guess.

Try purehero if u want aosp (no-sense) and kangslayer (blue echo) if u want beauty. If u want close to stock go honeybuns. I do.
