Custom Roms Are AMAZING!!

I'm really sorry to be such a bother, I'm just really new to this and can't afford to be bricking my phone. Thank you for all of your help.

its really hard to brick your phone in such a way you cant recover it. infact in the 20 or so (and counting) times i have bricked my phone, it was relatively easy to get it working again. if all else fails flash back to stock and start over again.

and your not a bother, we have all been there. i still remember that first crap my pants feeling when i bricked my phone the first time.

ok, so i have my fascinate rooted, and with one click lag fix (which has worked wonders for me btw since my benchmark score is well over 2200 now and before it was 919) but i have crom manager on my phone, and not the premium since i dont have the 5 bucks even to buy it (lame i know) but i want to install the Super dark v1 dj05 rom, but im not really sure what to do, i used rom manager to get it, and tried installing rom via bootloader through rom manager, but i keep getting errors.

wtf? i even moved the .zip file to my sdcard root and renamed it update.zip, still nothing, when i try to install via sd card in bootloader i get the whole verification of signature failed...it wont even let me back up my stock eclair rom. Ireally cant afford to brick my phone just ****ing around with stuff i have no idea of, and im tired of samsungs lies that we will get froyo by sept of '10, then nov, then dec.....now next year..when everyone else has gingerbread?? (i think thats what its called) i really need your help guys, im drowning in the what the **** did i get myself into ocean and im hoping one of you is kind enough to throw me a lifeline. (hell maybe even walk me through it via google talk....

Sounds like you doing have clockwork recovery on your device. Just flashing it in rom manager doesn't work. On the fascinate you must flash clockwork recovery via odin.

thank god, finally a response from somebody somewhere other than "man you guys are still on 2.1....chuckle chuckle..sucks for you" sweet deal. So how do i work odin then? i hope its relatively the same as android SDK and push?

Just switched over to butch's Super Dark Rom v1 (DJ05) and I'm in love. The theme alone is beast but the boot screen is just icing on the cake!

SUCCESS!!!!!!!! huzzah! i have accomplished the before now thought unaccomplishable.....i have installed a new rom to my fascinate...a new radio...a new kernel....the works...my benchmark score isnt anywhere as high as it used to be but damn it all.... i too am running the super dark v1 for dj05...(i think thats right) and man is that buttery smooth.... wonder whats next...maybe a 2.2 rom...or a 2.3 rom....!!!!

Glad to hear you have joined the club Only problem now is waiting on someone to get the AOSP build fully working so we can have pure android and maybe get CyangenMod working for the Fascinate. . . damn that TouchWiz

running JT's .9 superclean ROM and geeknik's 1.54 kernel. couldn't be happier despite the lack of froyo. on a side note, titanium backup is fantastic for getting rid of those pesky bloatware apps without actually deleting them.
