Noticed after rooting/flashing to 2.2 that cwm reverted back to blue instead of red. Should I re-push red back on or just wait until I get around to trying out some new ROM's?

I had the same problem here when I updated the leaked official froyo all I did was flash red again and worked but I do have one proplem the battery really sucks what can I do to get better what should I flash

Read both of these. The first one is a great how to thread by Mr.Mike that should help. The other one just started a day ago could help you

The same thing happened to me, just flashed CWM ALL through odin and it fixed the problem.

I have updated two phone now and noticed something wierd. The first update i had trouble getting into clockwork red. I flashed a couple different files before I got it wto work.

Once I was on the second phone, I was sure I had the correct clockwork file. I flashed it and tested it only to find I could only get into blue. I reflashed the same file and then it went straight to red. Why would flashing the same thing twice fix the problem???

I also noticed that the date stamps are not correct on the backup files I created.

[NOTE]There are is a partition that is shared by both the recovery kernel and system kernel.
when using a stock kernel it over writes the shared partition. So after flashing cwm you need to automatically boot into clockwork recovery, because as soon as you actually boot up the stock kernel over writes the partition and no more cwm.

this can be remedied by flashing a new rom with a custom kernel or just flashing a custom kernel as asoon as you boot into cwm the first time.[/NOTE]

if its working over wifi and not 3g its the data connection in the area, you may want to *228 update roaming. also pull the battery for a couple mins, while the battery is out hold the power or volume buttons for 10 or 15 to drain any residual charge. This should force your radio to rescan.

1.) Can this info get into the stickied threads for ED01.
2.) Some how by trial and error (reflashing CWM several) seems like I've got mine to work without custom kernel. If I ever reboot will I lose CWM? I have sbrissens mods and reboot options on. And reboot to recovery seems to always work now..

Any suggestions on a kernel to flash? I'm running the froyo rom and kernel from the beginners guide by sheep dog.

Yes i really suggest Comavolt. Ive had nothing but good outcomes of this kernel. You should try it out.

Will I have to redo the froyo after the kernel flash? I'm about as new at this as you can get. Just trying to figure out how much time to set aside, I've learned as soon as I start trying to do something technical with the phone my wife and kids suddenly become interested in every aspect of my life, and need my undivided attention.

Flashing a new kernel in CWM will not wipe your data or anything.

1) Things are kind of crazy right now between the official OTA and the devs trying to get custom ROMs released. Things will get sorted out as soon as we can get them done, it may just take a little while.

2) The most current red CWM will stick on your phone until you flash a stock kernel or until you flash, either through ODIN or CWM, a ROM containing a stock kernel. Once you do that, you will revert back to stock blue (2e) recovery. You can flash modems and recoveries in ODIN and themes, patches, and mods in CWM and the current CWM will stick.

As per part 2 of post 17....... What?:-\

Basically.... if you flash a stock kernel or ROM containing a stock kernel (either thru Odin or CWM), you will lose CWM Red and revert back to Blue... you will need to reflash CWM Red

I thought Landshark's explanation was pretty clear?
