Cyanogen is playing tonight! :)

4 files? All I used was the nightly.zip and gapps.zip ..... what other two are you refering to?

This is another case where clockwork would not be advised since it sucks at wipes....but I'm sure you know that already.

Maybe you have a corrupted zip.... try re-dl'ing the nightly and see if that helps any????

Edit : I see what you did for the two other files.....updated radio's, I already had that and that's where the confusion came in! It was a late night, lol.

I did redownload the Zips... Care to Link me to the Files you used?

They Recommend you Flash the Radios aswell thats the other 2 files i was talking about...

I keep getting xda-developers - View Single Post - Cyanogenmod Nightly Build [cm_supersonic-07192010-045042] (Updated 7/19/10) VID ADDED

That same exact message... I updated to the most recent Clockwork... but I'll Try RA I guess i never used it...

These should work Nightly cm6 files here. - xda-developers

I would have to do some serious digging in that P.O.S. thread in the XDA General Section to find the exact links.... I used a supplied mirror for the nightly and the first available gapps.zip posted up..... the link should work. The nightly zip is 66.9 for size.

Definitely try RA Amon recovery.... if you have ROM Manager, you can tell it to flash an alternate recovery and the RA is what gets flashed on there. For whatever reason, clockwork doesn't fully wipe and messes up flashing some roms.... I've been down that road already with my Fresh Roms.

FM Radio doesn't work, and he had said in the past that HDMI would not be working for this first build. I did see an update in the source tree that indicated something about HDMI, but I haven't heard for sure if it works or not.

This is a nightly and has some rough edges, but so far it seems at least good enough to be a daily driver, as long as you don't need 4G, HDMI, or FM radio. It sounds like there may be some voicemail issues, based on the XDA thread, so that might be a bigger problem.

Yes 4G and HDMI and FM radio are planned to come. I expect FM radio is at the bottom of the list priority wise. Cyanogen has stated that his end goal is to have the HDMI just output the entire display all the time, so you could use the phone with a monitor or TV if you desired, not just for photos and videos. 4G sounds like a problem area, there isn't much at all in terms of open source 4G drivers for them to build off of. But I expect we will see it before long.

In terms of when we will see a "beta" or "RC" build, I think it varies, and it will depend on what the team decides are show stoppers (HDMI/4G or other bugs that come along) and how long those take to fix. I would guess we are looking at 2 weeks - 2 months for a beta or RC.

Somebody posted the APK's for visual voicemail. Not sure if they worked for them, though, but if I use Google Voice for my voicemail (I have it forwarded) this wouldn't affect me, right? And if I flash this and then a new release comes out (because they are nightly builds) I will have to do the whole process again correct?

I really wanna jump on this but honestly I don't have the time to reflash that often. :(

Not having 4G long term would suck, so I hope that he can find some drivers to use eventually. FM radio I don't ever use. HDMI I haven't used yet, but if he gets it working like he wants I might use it a lot more.

I Tried Flashing over RA it wont Stick Stays on Clockwork...

Any ideas on this? PM me so this thread doesnt get Flooded by us... :p

Correct. Forwarding (like what is done for GV) is done on the sprint "server" side.

I don't know for certain (and someone will correct me if I'm wrong), but more than likely, yes, you will need wipe/reflash for updated builds. There will be a lot of core changes between builds at such and early age. Given that I'd say its pretty reasonable to hold off for a few days/weeks for something more polished- that's my plan.

I sure am excited to see it's coming together though! Full HDMI-out + bluetooth HID FTW!

If you're using Google Voice, I don't think the sprint visual voicemail apk applies (since you won't be using it).

I believe any flashes after the first one will not require wipes.... don't quote me on it though.... but that would mean everything would still be in place after flashing.....so you're looking at 5 minutes tops of hacking time to flash the newest nightly's.

I FIXED IT!!!!

Stupid Signature Verification was disabled...

I cant load the Rom but It Recognized the file as a rom

I'll Try to Download again and Flash...

**Side note now i can Flash that Splash Screen i've been wanting!!!**

Screw it, I'm going for it. I miss FroYo's speed too much (was an EVOlutionV9 user before I missed the camera too much). LETS GET IT ON!

Overall impressions? How functional is this build? Or is this something i should hold off until he officially releases a stable build?

I want to quantifiable pros and cons, as well as general user experience.

@bagger and d3xn2o : How is the Bluetooth in call reliability, stereo headsets work?

Overall, I'm super impressed for the first build. It actually is running very solid.

The biggest peeve I have is the notifications screen is convinced I have a voicemail and won't clear out. The first time I checked it, the phone dialed virgin mobile...then I changed the settings and now at least it checks my own v mail.

Other than that, seems to be very functional. I've read that FM Radio doesn't work and I verified that, the hdmi may or may not work-which I don't have the cable for-no biggie, and 4G is supposed to be broke - no 4G in WI- no biggy.

I checked to see if the stereo headset works and it surely does!

I'll check BT later, that's out in my truck collecting dust.

Another dumb question...since this requires root we'll still be able to do tethering right?

Those of you that flashed, can you confirm that the 30FPS has been removed?

Tethering is actually built in now... you don't need the wireless tether program. 30fps is gone on my 003 Nova

Well you can color me impressed. This is by far the best FroYo build I've used hands down.
What works/pros:
Wifi, GPS, all mobile data services, market (after you install GAPPS), cameras(!), widgets(*see below), notifications, SMS, AOSP apps, wifi tether.
Everything is very snappy, with a few minor niggles (*see below). All sensors appear to work properly, including compass and accelerometer.
Linpack is ~40MFlops.
Boot screen is slick, and the addition of a "reboot" option to the power options popup is nice.
The Cyanogen menu in Settings has some nifty additions (including adding dBM + battery percentage # to taskbar).
Seriously, everything is QUICK. That epic delay when you try to add an app shortcut to your homescreen? Gone- this is representative of just about every part of the UI. The only place I've noticed any lag at all is the app drawer (and I think that is ADW.Launcher's fault).

What doesn't work/frustrations:
4G, weather app doesn't seem to update properly if set to "auto determine location" (it doesn't seem to be able to grab a location). My biggest gripe so far is I can't find a way to disable ADW.Launcher and use the AOSP launcher. The "clear defaults" option isn't available in Apps/Manage. I much prefer the vanilla launcher in FroYo (tends to be smoother, especially with the app drawer animation, which is /quite/ laggy in this build + ADW). That said, I just turned off the open-drawer animation and everything is fine.

Overall
I really can't say I've found a major bug/issue yet (aside from 4G + FM radio) that is a deal-breaker for me. I don't have anything to test bluetooth with, so I'll leave that to others. I'd say go for it unless you REALLY need 4G/FM.

*EDIT*: Just read some comments-
@d3xn2o- the problem isn't with Clockwork (at least not in general), I used it to flash with no problems. Not sure where your issue is, but clockwork worked fine for me.
@iamlilysdad: Yes, the FPS cap is gone on my 003 novatek panel. FPS2D gives 50fps average +/- 9 stdev!

*EDIT 2*: Installed LauncherPro and life is much better. LP runs much better than ADW on this ROM, I'd recommend going with it if you're experimenting.

CM6 is working fine for me. I only have one problem with the market. I can't fine a couple of apps and some apps take longer to install. The phone seem very fast compare with having sence on it. I dont mind the 4G problem since is not available in my area.

Overral, I am very happy with it. I am very impres with this release.
