CyanogenMod 10.1 on Evo 4G LTE?

Has anyone been able to get CyanogenMod 10.1 to work on their Evo? Forgive my ignorance, but I am used to working on a Galaxy S3, which was relatively easy to root, install a custom bootloader and install any ROM.

On this new Evo 4G LTE, I unlocked it via HTCDEV.com, installed a custom bootloader (TWRP), performed a wipe (Davalik, Cache and data) on the phone and installed CyanogenMod 10.1 like I've done 100 times on my S3. Only this time, the Evo hangs on the HTC boot logo and will not go any further. Any ideas?

Question: Do you have to have S-Off to install custom ROMs? This concept is new to me, like I said, the S3 was much easier to deal with using Odin.

Thanks for any help.

You must have S-Off or find another way to deal with the rom changing kernels. I am not too familiar with that since I have S-Off on mine, but I think that is the basics of your issue. I have tried CM10.1 but I get major distortions with the mic in calls. I have had to switch to another rom but once CM10.1 is fixed, or I find a work around, I would really like to run it.

If anyone has any suggestions on my audio issues, please let me know.

This helps big time - I'll have to read about how to get S-Off. And thanks for the info on 10.1. I'll just use a Sense ROM for now. If you find a good sense ROM that you like, let me know.

Thanks again.

I used to have a similar problem when trying to flash Cyanogenmod 10.0. I discovered that if you use HtcDev to obtain Unlocked that you must flash the boot.img using adb.

At the bottom of that page it states that you must do so. Which turns out is the case for any rom you try and flash on our device.

However since you are already root(since your unlocked I assume so), here is the link that will allow you to obtain S-off with minimal effort: [S-Off] Facepalm S-Off for HTC Evo 4g LTE - xda-developers

It seems like it's too easy to do in all honesty. I know when I finally decided to pursue it I spent a good 8 hours or so trying to work with DirtyRacun to no avail. I was also incredibly worried about how to obtain SuperCid. Until I discovered that you put those terminal commands in your phone's terminal... I then saw why this method was given the name it obtained. xD

Once you obtain S-off you will no longer need to flash the boot.img files as TWRP will then be able to do that for you. (:

I hope this helped, happy modding!

P.S. Cyanogenmod 10.0 is the current "stable" release running on 4.1, how ever 10.1 is the current "snapshot" in release based on 4.2. I highly recommend 10.1, it has quite a bit of extra fancy bells and whistles that kept my occupied for a good little bit. Also when I first flashed Cyanogenmod 10.0 on my Unlocked, S-On Evo, it inhibited the ability to connect to 4g no matter what I tried. =/ Which became the whole reason to get S-Off for me.

P.S.S. When I had CM 10.0 I had HBOOT 1.12, then by some unforseen circumstance that DirtyRacun caused I managed to update it to 2.09. I was pretty unhappy when I realized that. However Facepalm will work on 2.09 with great ease. (: So no worries there. All you need is Unlocked, root, and a terminal. Then your good to go!

What firmware version might you be running and what release of 10.1 do you have? There are a couple of experimental(snapshot) versions that have been released up to 10.1-20130304. I also encountered a few problems I did not feel like working around on this version. I am currently running 10.1-20130215 and I have yet to come across a major issue other than needing to update Gapps for 4.2.2, update my profile, PRL, firmware(not an issue with s-off), and tweak a setting here and there. Also once you do update the play store for 4.2.2 you have to remove all your google accounts then open up play store and re-associate them with your phone. Once you've confirmed the play store works and will download apps, you will need to uninstall then reinstall Youtube, Gmail and Sound Search for Google.

Thank you! This worked like a charm! I'm ashamed I didn't find the info about flashing boot.img. Thanks again!
