Cyanogenmod 6 Test 4 HeroC

Man - are there any other keyboards that will install onto this? I really really want a working HTC IME apk...

And to whoever was Rsoehelk in the IRC: Did completely flashing again get the Market working?

I have tried several builds of froyo as it has been progressing in the IRC. I tried the newest on and no 3rd party camera apps preview for me, not sure why. Keep in mind that not having a fully working camera also kills the ability to scan QR codes if you use those. I know they mention it on the notepad from IRC, but also remember you lose visual voice mail.

Other than that, froyo is fast. Very fast, faster than any other hero rom I have tried.

Yeah it is super fast, I also think its smaller than any other rom I've used, even after flashing the google stuff I ended up having 140 megs of free space, unless it was just reporting wrong.

I flashed this yesterday. I did notice the back of the phone getting pretty warm just from casual usage, I would assume from the overclock. Battery life seemed a little worse for me compared to ihb or fresh. Overall a very fast rom.

The market causes a FC nearly every time. Also camera preview and video recording are a no go. This will probably get fixed shortly. Great progress so far.

I've noticed that the Market force closes after every single app install - twice. This just makes re-installing all of your stuff very tedious...

Use titanium backup before you switch to a new rom. Its a great app, and also it'll be the only one you'll probably ever have to install from the market afterwards.

Yeah, I had the market fc's also. Appbrain couldn't find all of my apps either. Probably because they haven't been updated for 2.2 yet. Back to HB for me, for now.

I've never had to reinstall anything when I flash this ROM. Sit tight after signing into the Google****s and then all your 3rd party apps should just reappear... thats what they do for me (I wipe everything, too). I've never had a force close in the market either.

Thanx - I'll do that next time!!

Anyway - I have more information on this now also. My SD card has LOADS of stuff in the \Downloads directory. I'm assuming that the Market app is downloading the .apk's to my SD card, then installing them, and then attempting to delete the downloaded file. I can tell you that it's at least force closing before it deletes the downloaded .apk's.

I hope that gives somebody some direction as to where to look for a fix...

...And is it possible to take the camera.apk from one of Beezy's roms and put it into this? I don't know enough about stripping stuff out of roms to move them somewhere else, and I'm sure that this has been thought of already to resolve the camera issues, right?

I think the camera issue is deeper than just replacing the .apk. Please correct me someone if I'm wrong, but I think the problem lies within the kernal.

I've tried this 2.2 ROM and it's very slow with launcher pro it won't overclock and the flash player 10.1 from the market doesn't work...its pointless to flash this rom....

Well, either Launcher Pro isn't playing nicely or you did something wrong. This ROM is so fast it makes the Hero usable.

...And where is the official Froyo WiFi tethering app? I know that I can download the unofficial one for rooted phones only from the Market, but this should be one of Froyo's biggest selling points. Am I just missing it somewhere in this ROM?
