Cyanogenmod 6 Test 4 HeroC

im still having protected apps probs with rc0 but thats just an RC0 prob. RC1 is out in case u want it.

The XDA site has the answer provided in earlier posts today. The key thing that was not mentioned is that after flashing the Test4 ROM and Google @#$%s, you have to install one of the protected apps (Handcent, TIKL,Fox News etc.) and then flash RCO. That way, all of the protected apps in the market will appear when you search for them.

As for Google #$%#s, I am on the latest 91 file mentioned by chompy in post 51.

I'm going to try and flash test 4, dl handcent, then flash rc1 over that. I assume no wipes? Or is this a google $&#@$ issue?

You should wipe everything and load test4 and google @@#$S. dl handcent and then flash rc1. You will will now be able to download protected apps from the market.

Yeah, I meant a wipe after I flashed test 4. :) No matter, I got it going. This process does work. Hopefully, They'll get this bug ironed out for RC2.

I tried this and it didn't work. Maybe I tried the wrong google thing? I did the 91 one I believe.

Can you provide more explanation on what did not work? The google thing is only there to provide you access to the market to download handcent. After you wiped everything, you flash the test rom from the sd card, then recover the google 91 @##%s, and then reboot. This should give you the market icon that allows you to download handcent. After that you flash the newest 2.2 rom and then reboot. You should still be able to find and download all protected apps in the market.

If this does not help let me know the steps you are taking to flash test and google @$#%s.

I wipe everything; flash test 4 and the google 91. Once that is done I reboot the phone, let everything load, go to the market, and download handcent (it might be worth noting that the market tends to force close for me for some reason). After that I go back to recovery; and WITHOUT wiping anything, I flash RC1. Once that is done I reboot, wait for everything to finish loading, go to the market and there are still apps missing, including my purchased aldiko premium and android banking.

Interesting. I see both apps in the market place. Here is what i was told to wipe: just data wipe/ dalvik and ext partition. If you get an error on dalvik and ext partition it still works but I wipe them twice.

Then, flash test 4 and google 91 and download aldiko premium and android banking etc from the market.

I recommend flashing the newest rom located at this location:

Cyanogenmod 6.0.0 for CDMA Hero Testing - CyanogenMod Forum (paste into address bar).

It fixes a number of issues but not camera and video camera and it does increase battery drain but it is fast and fixes the gps issue.

Let me know how it goes.

so what is the newest cyanogenmod? is it test4 or testing 2? i tried the above link but the rom they have on there is heroc testing2

Darch is compiling a new version and it should be done in a couple of hours. Camera will apparently be fixed in the new version. Sorry I havent updated the thread in a while and thanks to all who post updates every now and then.

I would like to add that test2 is rock stable at least on my phone. I do have a battery tweak also running which might help. Much better 2.2 and so much I am not sure if I could ever go back to 2.1

I get an occasional force close on ADW, but it isn't anything I can't live with. New release today, 8/8, with a possible, actual RC1 tomorrow. Check out the xda thread.

I got random reboots with the 8/8 build yesterday. Actually, it would reboot when the phone was waken from sleep. I'll have to try re-downloading the file and see what happens - with Camera working it will be my daily.

Now that it's looking like this one may be working in all aspects, can someone please explain the deal about Cyanogenmod? I went to their site, but they don't really do a "sales job" on what the big deal over this ROM over others, or even stock, is. The video that I watched just had live wallpaper (which I don't care about) and a music player (which stock has)

Is it faster than stock? are there other benefits? It's based on 2.2, correct?

thanks for any information on this.
