CyanogenMod-7.1.0 is released for NC

I'm doing the install from SD, i checked ROM manager looking for updates and it tells me i'm up to date as far as the OS.

I can use ROM manager to install from the SD card?

Please clarify. Are you running CM7 from the eMMC or the card? If from the eMMC it is the first in the list when you open ROM Manager. CWR is not a ROM.....

I'm running CM7 on eMMC, i did the flash off and SD card. I'm not used to using the built in CWR i guess is what i'm saying. I've always done the flashing of the OS from an SD card

I take back the OS up to date comment this time i checked and it started a download.

I just checked ROM manager and CWR is the latest. I have the older version on my bootable SD card.

Is it better to use the ROM manager then CWR on a bootable SD card? I know enough to get by and make it work, scared i'll muck it up bad lol.

Either one. You need to use the latest CWR in any case. I find it easier to download with ROM manager and let it invoke CWR to backup/install.

In the words of the Staples Button "That was easy" I used ROM Manager and it was waaaay easier then trying to us an SD card. Thanks for the help and clarification everyone.

Removed. I just downloaded the latest release of CM7 on my computer and dragged it to the boot partition of the SD card. Booted up, installed, runs fine. That was easy haha

Are you booting into CM7 from the sd card all the time? Or are you on emmc?

Thanks

My nook sees minimal use since I got my ipad2. Hence I usually need to reeducate myself on how to flash. But it was extremely easy using Rom manager. Just tapping a button! And this version is much faster. Very nice.

Booting from the sd card. I prefer it that way because i like keeping the nook os for reading

I want to update my wife's Nook to CM7.1.0. I dropped it on the boot partition, but it still boots into 7.0.3-encore. Do I need to install using recovery? I want to leave her Nook stock, and continue to boot CM7, so I am stepping lightly here.

Thanks Dan C.

Did you boot into recovery?

This is a known problem. You cannot update from 7.0.3 if you used the 1.3 installer image. Do a titanium backup, put it on the computer, format your card, make a fresh install of 7.1, then restore everything with titanium.

I have the problem others have reported here and in other forums. I installed 7.1 on my SD card using the same procedure that worked fine when I installed 7.1 RC a few months ago.

http://forums.androidcentral.com/ba...-run-cm7-off-sd-card-easy-follow-no-root.html

With the RC, when I installed the SD in my NC, CM7 would boot. When I removed the SD, Nook stock would boot just as I wanted.

With 7.1 it looked like it was installing the same as the RC release - penguin followed by lots of green screens, then a few minutes later the NC shutdown. I thought it was supposed to reboot. Anyway I kept the SD in the Nook and powered up. I expected it to boot to CM7, but it booted to Nook stock.

Thinking I missed a step or did something wrong, I carefully re-did the installation from scratch. Same results. Boots to Nook stock.

NC is up to date with f/w - v 1.3

Nook stock works fine. So did CM7 7.1 RC.

Suggestions?

It seems a problem is trying to load gapps at the same time. Format the card with 1.3, add CM7.1. Boot the card up in the nook. After it loads, shut it down, pull the card, drop gapps on boot partition and start it up again. That is what finally worked for me.

Thanks for this tip. I was trying both CM7 7.1 and gapps (per the step-by-step thread instructions) with no success. Perhaps this should be noted in the thread(s). Save others a lot of frustration.

Can anyone just clear up what I need to do... I rooted the NC a while ago and it is still at 1.0.0. I would like to update to 1.3 and install CM7. There are just so many outdated tools and instructions out there that I'm just totally confused. Do I have to go back to stock to update to 1.3 before going to CM7? If I make a bootable Clockwork microSD, is there a way to just do it in one big restore? I really hate asking questions, but I'm going crazy here.....

EDIT: Ok so I understand that 1.3 is not rootable at this point. If I get 1.2 rooted on the NC and then load CM7.1 will that prevent BN updates?

You don't need to update the stock ROM at all to go to CM7 as it will replace the ROM.
