[CyanogenMod-7 ROM+KERNEL] OM-Mandylion.....01-12-2013..Update

New kernel with entropyv Linux kernel patch check O/P from download links. Entropy shows to be right where is should be dropping no lower then 2500, without the need for the rngd-tool binary.

What do u mean entropy patch. Doesn't this cause the rom to be more insecure. Like what the seeder app does? U built this into the kernel? If so why? Am I wrong that it causes less code randomization there for causing the kernel to be more insecure? I'm kind of worried now!!! Less address space layout randomization aslr.???

It's the Seeder.apk that cause the security problems because it does not interact with the kernel only the rgnd-tool binary and cause the binary to be active even when screen is off, plus the binary that the Seeder, apk uses is one that is built from Ubuntu source and is not met for use with android.

Looking into the security risk with Seeder.apk, it turns out the problem is the linking of /dev/urandom and /dev/random which is not implemented. May include these patches into a new ROM build.

So is the kernel less secure or is it ok? I flashed it already. When do u think u can put those patches in?

The link is not present, so there is no risk. As fare as the patches probably in a week, going to make it part of the boot.img so there is no need for an extra init.d script.

Very good work OP, impressive.

Quick question: using the Partition utility in Zen Garden Touch, what is the process for partioning my SD card to optimize it for this ROM? I've partitioned for Ubuntu but it was using a click and slide GUI.

My SD card is 2GB (pretty embarrassing lol). I'm guessing I need to make a 2024 MB ext4 partition, 0 swap space. Is that right?

with that card i'd probably go with 512-1gb tops and consider looking for a new card. yes to ext4 and 0swap

Ok, thanks. I used to have an 8GB card, but then I was jumping around prepaid carriers and handsets a bunch and lost it. I need to get another one. 2GB just ain't cutting it.

You can get a class4 16GB SanDisk micro SD card at WalMart for $12.00-$20.00. This has been tested on our phone to deliver the best read speeds, plus it will allow you to create a 2GB partition because of the amount of actual usable space available.
2GB being optimal for any SD ext script or app.

Note: Class designation has no bearing on quality or read speed, just write speed. With a SD ext read speed is the most important.
Empty with no partition I got consistant speeds of 43MB/s. With partition and close to 10GB of info....35MB/s. This is higher than any card tested by almost 10MB/s.

Note #2: The best way to create the partition is to use the recovery. It will format it to ext.3. Then put it into computer and use Mini Tool Partitioning Wizard to change the format to whatever you need.
This is the best way to partition the sd card, especially with cards 8GB or higher.

Have you tried deleting updates option in settings/applications/all applications/Google PlayStore.
This will leave you with original app.
Afterwards, when you select it, it will go thru the update process all over again. This should give you the current version again.
