Intermittent outages here in Mid-Michigan this morning. Had the same problem a couple of days ago.

Problems here in Denver too. But luckily I just drop to the 3G provided by my trusty Network Extender :)

I can always tell when I'm on the Network Extender data rather than native because my modem RevA setting always auto-negotiates down to EvDO-RevA from EvDO-eHRPD because my Network Extender does not support eHRPD.

Edit: Switched up to LTE now. Guess it's trying to come-around. :)

whooo hooo...got a really strong 1X signal for the last hour. way to go verizon!!!

Had issues early this morning as it either had no data connection or bounced around between 1x and 3G. But looks like all is well again here in Birmingham, AL as of approx. 9:30am (Central).

Bet they're tinkering with the network trying to fix the Galaxy Nexus network connection issues! ;)

central Florida was on 1x for a littlr while this morning. back to 3g now. 4g coverage is about a mile away so I cannot test that at the moment.

Hey all. My data has been slow all morning here in So Cal.
I am not sure what the problem is but I can understand it happens. I am a sub contractor for 2 major mobile companies here in So Cal. we handle all types of problems for the cell sites ranging from power faults to over heating. For the past two years we have seen a spike in vandalism at these sites. Vandals will steal the copper coils from the AC unit that cool these sites down and with no AC running these sites overheat within hours causing the equipment to shut down. We receive a emerangancy ticket and deploy portable AC units to the site untilled the vandalism can be repaired. Vandals steal anything they can their hands on.
So this is one way our service can disrupted and I get pissed sometimes too as i need my data to work for my emerangancy emails. I have to have two providers just in case. but i can understand these thing happen and just wanted to shine some light for some of you who may be raging right now. Sorry for the long post. Just wanted to enlightened you of some issues that may cause outages. Have a good morning all.

I've seen more and more reports of this type of stuff in the news. Those vandals should be taken out behind the woodshed!!!! Grrrrrr...

Anyway, I would hope this type of thing would only affect the area around a down cell tower and not cause a major outage across the country!

my last post was incomplete and now completed.

I understand this is seems to be a major outage all over the country. and I doubt that what I posted above has anything to do with it.

But, let me give you some more info about cell sites..

We have sites called hubs or micro sites and these sites control many other sites.. If a micro site gets hit we are talking about a huge outage. These companies try to prevent this from happening but it is really hard to stop unless they put 24x7 on duty watchmen at every site. I don't see this happening.

What has been keeping us busy is these vandals will hit 2, 3, 4 sites a night. We do our best to keep things online but with so many at once, it becomes harder.

Anyways, Hope things get back up soon.

What's a network extender?

What's a network extender?

Verizon Network Extender: Verizon Wireless Network Extender | Verizon Wireless

Works over your Internet wired connection to provide good voice and 3G coverage inside your house, basement, led-lined nuclear fallout shelter and what have you. :)

I fall pretty much into the last category... I have a steel siding house and my home office is in the lower level (half underground). I call the steel siding an RF repellant! The Network Extender works fantastic for me. Stable connections, never lose a call. Always reliable. Without it I have 1/2 to 1 bar service with frequent drops.
