I may actually be getting somewhere with a build this time. I have found a way to bypass the error I was receiving, but it will not make a flashable zip. Instead it makes boot.img and system.img. I should be able to unpack those and make a zip from them. Or, as I just found out I can recompile it again but use the otapackage option from the make file to have it make the zip. I will continue to work on this. I may see if it works, then re-sync everything and compile it one more time before I test it out. I'll let you know.

I helped him out. He is running cm7 now. I wonder if written directions are just difficult for some to follow. Would a video tutorial be helpful ? I personally think its simple but as we can see it can be confusing your first time or two.

sent from my FANBOI EVO 4G !

I agree that it does seem pretty simple. Some people do have problems with written directions. I know my son learns from seeing more than reading. I video tutorial may not be a bad idea. Everyone has a different learning style. Thanks for helping out.

I might do one then... Gota get my internet working unless I record from my evo lmao.

You could always do something like a PowerPoint or Flash presentation with a voice over or just text to go with pictures. Doesn't have to be video (if you decide to take this on). I think a lot of it has to do with people feeling uncomfortable when they don't know if it looks the way it is supposed to during the install process. Pictures and whatnot put us at ease since we can verify everything is ok every step of the way. Good luck!

i thought i remembered there being a way to turn the power level down on the wifi hot spot?...but can't find it...am i wrong or is it some where in the thread?

I don't remember seeing that anywhere either in this thread or in the ROM itself but, I generally keep my phone plugged into either the wall or one of my laptop's USB port's when I'm running the hotspot. However, if you find this in the ROM or see an app for it please report back, I truly hate watching my phone temp hit 50? C when the battery clearly says to keep it under 40? C (104? F) >_<

If using Wireless Tether for Root Users, there is the option in the settings of the app for reducing the transmit power. It is set to disabled by default, but allows you to reduce by either 5 dBm, 7 dBm, 10 dBm, 12 dBm, 13 dBm, 14 dBm or 15 dBm.

I'm still working on trying to get this to compile. Using zefies new code I cannot get past the multiple board config file error and using an older build resulted in a no rule to make target bacon. I managed to get past that error by removing bacon from the envsetup.sh file. It's compiling right now, so we shall see what happens. Of course this build is from March, so the only code updates will be CM source not zefie's source. I want to be able to get something to build before I dig in much deeper with everything. I knew a lot of work went into development, but I really had no idea until I started this.

(BTW - I was formally known as athanos, but I like this username better)

That sounds like what I was thinking of...

Hey does anyone know how to fix the issue with the power button hanging up phone calls. I have tried MENU>SETTING> ACCESSIBILITY and made sure that the "Power button end calls" was unchecked any suggestions or is this just a bug
