anybody experiencing a significant reduction in battery life?

any tips on how to conserve a bit?
Other than the speakerphone volume being lower than stock, and having to occasionally re-install Swype, i love this ROM..

anybody had\fixed any of the above issues?

For the battery life, see my earlier post about doing a code in the dialer to get to a hidden menu.. it has to do with the phone constantly searching for home and roaming signals. For me, its allowed me to go from about 10 hrs Max to nearly 24 hrs (my best so far). Seems like most cm7 builds have poor battery performance issues that still need to be worked out, but at least this tweak helps..

Can you link to your post? I cannot seem to find it after a few searches

It was just for fun, if you don't like it flash the previous nightly. It's not like it would be hard to revert either, these are nightlies after all so don't worry about not being able to merge this with official cm7 repos.

Can understand that, just making it known that I liked the old version better. Could either just keep the new boot and give those of us that don't like it a flashable zip to restore the old one in the newer nightlies, or could go back to the old one and just have the people that like it flash the zip that was provided.

@Acromak - same, can't find the post. :(

page 67, first post.

Not sure if a titanium restore of apps would restore these settings as well, but possible? Who knows..

Also, for those of you who were talking about poor battery life, I think I've found the answer. I was being plagued by extremely poor battery life as well - I could literally watch the percentage drop, and it would only last about 10 hrs or so at the max. I looked around and found an old tip of making sure your radio is set to CDMA auto. Apparently, it can sometimes get set to GSM auto, which results in the radio almost constantly searching for signal, even though it is still connected to CMDA signal, and this shows up as an extremely high Time Without Signal (TWS %). Mine was crazy high - at least 60% on a regular basis, sometimes as high as 80% or more.. Anyway, here's how to fix it:

  1. Open up the dialpad, and type:
    *#*#4636#*#*
(the numbers are for 'info'; don't press call, it should automatically go to a 'Testing' menu)
  2. Go into 'Phone information'
  3. Press Menu, and select 'Select radio band' (this will result in a force close, but that's what we want.. just keep going.)
  4. Go back into 'Phone information' and scroll down to the bottom'. It will probably still say 'CDMA auto (PRL)', but the problem is this is probably a visual glitch. Or it might say 'Unknown'. Either way, switch it to something else, then switch it back to 'CDMA auto (PRL)'. Then you can turn off the radio and turn it back on with the button right underneath that.
  5. At this point, the fix has been applied, but it would be a good idea to clear the battery stats to get a fresh start. So boot into recovery and do that, then reboot. The fix *should* stick after this reboot, but I think it didn't when I first did it. But assuming it does, then you're golden. It will be like this for all other reboots. If it does not, then just do it again. You can tell if it worked if when you go into battery usage, and go into cell standby, the TWS% is much lower. I charged mine completely overnight after applying this fix and have been off the charger now for over a half hour and TWS% is still at 0% (even though cell standby is at 46% (but that's not a problem at all..), and my battery is still at 100%. Before, by this point, it would probably already have dropped 5% with the same amount I've been using it.

I'm pretty hopeful to get my usual 1.5-2 days' worth of battery life out of this phone now, but will update if this isn't the case..

forgot to mention that this was done on my device in addition to juicedefender.

Miss your visual voicemail???

Visual voicemail? I know it got brought up a few times bit was there an apk or zip for it?
I have visual voicemail working with CM7 its a bit of a pain but its worth it if you really miss it like i did. what i did what flashed my nandroid backup of my stock rom. backed it up in titainium backup and restored it in CM7 and it works great. now to get rid of that annoying text notification i installed shady sms and turned off the default messaging programs notification and then in shady sms add 9016 to the shady contacts then in shady sms settings set it to not display any notification for shady sms's. just thought i would throw this in there.

Another option is to use Google Voice since it doesn't cost anything to forward a call to a GV number if you don't answer it.

For those that want to replace the boot, it's a zip file called bootanimation.zip and it's under system>media. If you want the old one back, you can follow these steps (via root explorer):

1) unzip an old build

2) go to system>media

3) copy "bootanimation.zip"

4) go to system>media on your phone

5) paste, replace the old one

6)reboot

7)???

8)profit

And for those who haven't seen it, Scott Pilgrim VS the World is a pretty epic movie. just sayin.

EDIT: or, you can go two posts down and flash that zip file i made

Edit:

Oops lost the quote there but this in reference the the proximity sensor not always working even if it is checked under phone settings

Nice to see that the work done here is appreciated. How about trying to help yourself before bashing other people's work ;) thanks.

Its funny how people are complaining about the boot animation, if you didn't want it why did you guys flash the new nightly, thats the only thing that was added :D

Thanks nick for the boot, i didn't flash just because they're no improvements =]

I was gonna wait to go back to cm7, but I reflashed it just for the new boot screen...it's Rad! Thanks Nick7...not all of us take ourselves that seriously.

Sorry guys, since some of you were looking for it, here's the battery tweak again (I'll probably make a new thread with this info so it's easy to find):

I originally found this information on the xda forums..

  1. Open up the dialpad, and type:

    *#*#4636#*#*

(the numbers are for 'info'; don't press call, it should automatically go to a 'Testing' menu)
  2. Go into 'Phone information'

Before, by this point, it would probably already have dropped 5% with the same amount I've been using it.

And it's been days since I first did this.. I can tell you that my battery did go from about a max of 10 hours, to nearly a whole day (24 hour period). The highest I've seen my TWS% go during the course of a day was about 20-25% (some of my classes are in old stone buildings built to double as fallout shelters, so even roaming doesn't always work).

The 'wireless tether for root users' app works, even if the stock app/hotspot widget doesn't.

For some reason I can't get it to work. HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Another issue is, for some reason when I take or make a call, the screen locks out and I have to either connect or disconnect my charger or remove my battery.
Didn't have this problem on ThunderRom. Can anyone tell me why, and if others have the same problem?
