Are the memory management apps for root superfluous now?

Maybe I'm ignorant as to its purpose, but would the improved memory management in 1.6 reduce the need for MinFreeManager, or would you still recommend it?

EDIT: Haha! Nice timing lichan. Right as I was typing it . . .

If you read the first post we suggest that you don't use a memory management app since release the first version. The memory management apps are good to have if just running stock rom with root. We have tweaked the settings a lot.

Is there a noticeable difference with 748 vs 600? What about with the battery life?

I was a huge fan of 600 at first then i ran 748 there isn't a real big difference. i think i was still getting the same amount of battery life.

You can/should ditch min free completely. Just let the ROM do the work and enjoy the free space you get from deleting an extra app :)

Thanks for the response. I'll give it a shot. Oh and i just noticed this -->

-Un-check "Auto Rotate Screen" then the phone punches me in the face

Hilarious

Thanks KSmithInNY and Beezy for the responses.

Also, for the built-in OC, I'm assuming we need a custom OC kernel installed?

I was running at 600 for a long time, then with this 1.6 update went to 748. can't say much about battery yet, but the speed bump is noticeable to me. things just run a hell of a lot smoother. quadrant score is equal to htc desire, and nexus one (both running 2.2), if i recall correctly..

@nick

I'll have to check my notes when I get home because I don't remember off hand which line I changed. I know I changed the value to -300 and made a custom transparent image.

You can use the one included in the rom,it is set to OC at 748max/122min on boot. If you want to go higher then that must use SetCPU or a overclocking app. If you want to boot at 600max/122min then grab the zip on post 2.You can flash a different kernel if you want to.

So, if I have Xionia kernel installed, and then I flash 1.6 on top of 1.5, will I then have the kernel included in 1.6 installed instead?

Yeah kernels are part of a boot.img when you flash a rom it replaces the boot.img so yes you will have the new custom kernel installed when you flash 1.6.

Thanks guys. Sorry about all the questions, sort of a n00b when it comes to this stuff .

So I've now flashed and gotten everything running perfect. Only thing is I'm not entirely crazy about the transparent notification window. I'm going to give it time to sink in for me, but in case I want to change it up would the easiest way to use UOT kitchen or something to flash a theme over TR1.6? (never done that before, but I assume it's not too complicated..)

PS. awesome work guys, love what you're doing!

If you want to flash a theme you could just use any of them that nick has posted. You just flash those in recovery like a rom. I personally haven't ever used UOT kitchen so i can't speak for that. Someone else would have to chime in about that.

Great ROM guys, installed smooth as butter. Personally, I think the transparent notification window rocks. I use the flurl free live wallpaper, and it looks great behind the notification window.

I kept setCPU, I found it runs smoother if I am at 245 min, not 122, (less hanging when I swipe to unlock), and my phone is solid at 806 max.

Also, 172 MB total storage!!! Way to go, gonna enjoy that extra 12 meg.

Thanks again.

Beezy, quick questions:

Is JIT still enabled by default on this build? Also, is SprintZone tied in with any other app, or can it be removed without issue?

Is SetCPU included in this ROM? If so, you should remove it ASAP, because the developer at XDA-Developers.com who created the app specifically said he doesn't want it included in ROM's.

I think he had SetCPU installed from his last flash, and just kept it installed.
