Interesting. LGcamera.apk is not in the Optimus T roms. The camera is called CameraApp.apk. Did you mean to say that, or do you think I should find lgcamera.apk to download from somewhere?

Also, I realized that Optimus U appears to have exactly the same hardware style as the S, and read a review that it provides robust camera control, including exposure. Possibly also true for Optimus V. Do you know where I could get ahold of roms for either of those two? Google isn't turning up much.

Thanks!

Tried to replace all camera-related libs and the app. It booted but then all apps that tried to use the camera crashed. Found this for the V. [ROM] ║ RodimusROM v1.0 ║ [2/2] Optimus V A diff between its and lego-rom's lib directories show that not too many files are different. Among the different are libcamera and liboemcamera - not the other camera ones. Restarted with them and the camera loads, but no exposure control. Alas. I wonder if other differing ones matter - like libmmjpeg is different and I wonder if it may have something to do with the camera.

Also, the app Z-DeviceTest shows this info about the camera:
Exposure compensation: 0
Exposure compensation step: 0.1666667
Min exposure compensation: -12
Max exposure compensation: 12

I want to flash an entire one of these Optimus T or V roms on my phone just to see if the software will make a difference at all for the camera. Do I risk damaging my phone?

You shouldn't damage anything, just make sure your nandroid backup is good before flashing, as I assume it will likely boot loop.

I have another nOOb question. I am running v1.5 and I am considering flashing to 1.6.2 since everyone loves it so much. Do I have to reinstall and re-setup all of my apps after flashing 1.5 to 1.6.2 or is that the whole point of not wiping the data cache etc. and flashing 1.6.2 directly on top of 1.5?

The features of 1.6.2 sound great but 1.5 is running smoothly and I really hate setting up apps/preferences again and again.

Great work to all involved. I came from Windows Mobile 6.1 and Android+Optimus S+ThundeROM kicks my HTC Touch Pro's ass.

Many thanks.

No. You can flash 1.6 right over 1.5 w/o cleaning or wiping, hence you won't loose any apps or settings.

After flashing this Rom, can you flash the themes or kernels from Lego Rom over top of it? If so, does the cache or dalvik need to be wiped first?

Thank you!!!

Thanks for your hard work on ThundeROM! It's flawless, my battery last forever, my scrolling is super smooth, and I couldn't be happier!

@KSmith - If I could afford to donate more than $1.00 (I'm a broke ass student) I would.

@Beezy: How do I donate for your work on ThundeROM?

Thanks again....

Thanks so much for the donation!

All donations made for this rom are split between me and Beezy. We figured it would be easier for us to handle splitting rather than having people click multiple links :)

We're testing some stuff and once we're comfortable with it, we plan on bringing you folks some more cool things.

From what I can find is that exposure is in the version build. I was reading up on Honeycomb 3.0 and found this.

The camera app has been redesigned for
larger screen sizes. You get quicker access
to settings such as zoom, focus, flash ,
exposure , etc . Frankly, those are
improvements that we should have in Android
2 .2. Let ' s hope that gets ported over post
haste .

Just threw you a small donation myself. Really, really appreciate the work you guys are doing here. Not only that, but the friendly tone of your threads. I haven't posted much yet, but I've read every post of these threads. The way you support your users is awesome.

Thanks again!

my battery doesnt last forever...any tips?

@ Team ThundeROM: Doubled up the donation

@ omarnova: Hehe, I didn't mean forever.... But yeah, it's lasting probably at least twice as long as before I installed the ROM (I use my phone quite a bit)...
Did you install the Deluxe Build Prop?

It's not just the camera app itself - if you look at the Google source code for the Android camera app, there's a check for whether or not the camera supports exposure control, as per this entry in the Android developer reference, Camera.Parameters | Android Developers , and presumably if that fails the camera does not show any exposure control. I've seen screen shots from other phones of the camera app showing exposure control. Same is true for other camera apps - they either don't show exposure controls, or if they do, they have no effect.

Downloaded the Optimus U (apparently supports exposure control) source code from LG, Open Source Main , with the intention of digging into the camera kernel driver, comparing it to the Optimus S code, porting it over, and recompiling the entire S system. Is there a precedent for this? Will it work if I do the driver correctly? Anyone have experience writing drivers? Is there any closed-source material excluded from LG's download or Google's Android repository?

All good I'm new too...
But after you flash the ROM, some buildprops for the ROM pop up on your SD Card and you can pick one or just run the ROM as is, they're described in the LegoROM thread in post #3 and #6-in the flashing section... Look there for the best info...
ThundeROM justs puts deluxe, stock and stock(no jit) on the sd card I think and I don't know if the LegoROM Buildprops work for ThundeROM but those are the instructions I used for installing the build prop and theme on my phone... But keep in mind, I'm no expert...
