Death of the Rezound is greatly exaggerated

So I was falling into the whole "development is dead" crowd, and then I took a look around. Here is what I would say is the latest news.

Yes, some devs are gone, but quite a few have stepped up, at least 4 since scott went on vacation.

New roms have Aroma installer, which is fantastic for putting things on you actually want, or leaving off the stuff you don't, and making the all the stupid combinations of firmware and s-off, s-on ridiculousness moot.

We have 3 sense4 roms actively being worked on

Newt is working on getting aokp running, even though he loves sense.

Team Bamf just purchased 2 Rezounds and are saying they are working on something never done before.

Chad has almost built from scratch a kernel that will run CM9.

The MIUI port Suil has been working on is waiting on the SMS fix, which is being worked on.

So what is the problem? I got plenty of stuff to flash and try out.

On a bit of a side note, whats the etiquette on keeping our own thread of all roms with links? Probably need to ask all the devs, but this is really the only forum I've ever been active in so I'm unsure how AC would feel with a thread full of links off site.

Yes nice to have continuing development, unfortunately for me, most of the ongoing dev work now centers around ICS. I've decided to stay with my GB Rezound for the simple reason that it just works.

Using Scotts GBE CleanROM 1.7 and it's perfect (for me). Not to say that if someone came out with a new and improved GB ROM that I wouldn't try it. I'll move on to my soon to arrive Nexus 7 and have fun with that.

The rom maker puts it in. When you flash the rom a screen comes up asking you questions about what you want installed, then detects if your s-off and what firmware your on. Depending on that, if done correctly by the dev, I believe it puts the files you need to flash either in hboot or recovery are put on your SD card.

Would this allow and ICS ROM to be installed over (replace) my current GB ROM? I might try it if it's truly that easy.

If it were a GB rom, then I would have to say yes, but all the Roms I have seen with the aroma installer (which I knew nothing about until just now) were ICS roms. I believe you should run the ICS RUU first to upgrade the firmware to ICS, so that way you can do this. I can't answer about GB roms, and I can't run them anymore since I upgraded to ICS, and since I can't go s-off (mac user) I can't go back to GB

I'm really enjoying Newt's latest One XxX. People thought Sense 4 would be garbage without the kernel source but I think it runs pretty well.

Didn't know about Chad's progress or about team Bamf but that is outstanding!

On your side note...I don't think the dev's would mind but I'd probably PM them first to be sure and then only link their ROM's from their site. In the Inc rooting forum the all-knowing Stig (formerly Pvillecomp) had set up a really nice ROM's and Mod's HQ...one stop shopping!! It was really sweet but it'd be some work to set up and keep updated. Not impossible but requires some dedicated time.

AC actually will not care, just don't make it and run after a month. I thought about doing it myself but then I realized what a pita it will be going to 7 forums to get info.

The conrom with aroma will upgrade your firmware through aroma. Not sure about others

I'm at a loss on the 7th, unless we count AC, but there is nothing here, so I think I'm missing one.

I'll Think about how much time it will take. I usually have an hour or two every night after the wife and kid go to bed, so I think I have plenty of time. Plus I already check most of the sites about every other day, so I'm already looking. Might be nice, since I can't dev to actually do something productive.

So I'm gonna try to get this organized and posted. It's gonna take a couple of days to get the first couple of posts up. I found 17 devs, just on XDA, and I know there are a couple others on some of the team websites.

Anybody got a good way to save huge posts other than copying and pasting to and from Notepad? I don't wanna just put the OP up with a bunch of reserved posts. I'd like to get the OP and links to all the Roms up at the same time, then work on finding themes and mods for the next couple of days after that.

I may be off on their being 7, but I will offer to help if you want. When my head clears in the am or afternoon, I will go through my links. every other day/3rd day of looking in and updating would do the trick I believe. If you start talking tweaks, mods, themes and the whatnot, those might come sooner.

Currently running Nils' 4.0 rom and I must say it is very smooth! He is a great dev that is always willing to help. Hardly any drama in his forums.

I may be off on their being 7, but I will offer to help if you want. When my head clears in the am or afternoon, I will go through my links. every other day/3rd day of looking in and updating would do the trick I believe. If you start talking tweaks, mods, themes and the whatnot, those might come sooner.
