December Update is out

So, my Bluetooth issues weren't resolved by rolling back versions in developer settings as suggested in this thread (appreciate the suggestion). So I opted to do a factory reset and try my luck ... BUT before I did I removed my T-Mobile SIM card. Once I got through the initial setup (still with SIM card removed) I checked for update and there it was Coincidence?? Find that hard to believe ... Why would my T-Mobile SIM be holding up an update on my unlocked Pixel 3 purchased directly from Google??
I'll try removing my SIM tonight and try. Also TMobile here.

Not sure it will make a difference. Many folks on Google FI also didn't get the update. But Fi does indeed use TMobile network. So it's interesting. I'll report back later tonight.
Nope. Nothing. Pulled SIM out, restarted and nothing. Check and it says up to date.

If you know someone with a different carrier sim see about popping it in long enough to check for an update. I put my VZW sim in my Fi pixel and finally got the update.

I can confirm that putting a Verizon sim in your Fi or T-Mobile phone immediately allows you to update your phone.

Well, I tried just pulling the sim card out and that did not help. Then, as long as it was out, I thought I would try the supposed esim aspect of the Pixel 3. That did not work under Connection Settings! I could not make a phone call till I put the sim back in.

December 11th and yep, no update yet. Nice work Google.
Just checking - did you go to settings>system>advanced>system update>check for update?

For some reason my 3XL will not give me a notification of update available, will not auto update (despite auto update being on). I have to manually check and install it every time. System update screen will even say "last successful check for update at (like 2 min ago)" and there's no update until I refresh "check for update".

The carrier has to send a "SIM image" to your eSIM before it works. The eSIM is just a blank, unwritten-to "SIM" card until then.

Thanks. I just decided to see what happened with the Pixel 3 if I put my Verizon sim in. At that point the phone told me to chose my sim/carrier. It worked on Fi at that point with the esim I gather since it dialed and showed the Fi phone number. But still no Dec update. Then I switched to Verizon sim using Setup. Now on my Verizon number and it again dialed out. But NOW the DEC UPDATE was available and is actually installing.

I have to admit, this is my first Pixel. Strange that Google is not pushing out the update to their own phones/sims but is pushing to Verizon. Still updating. Optimizing apps. Update is 147.5mb

(now if I could only figure out where I hid (too successfully I might add) my two BB Privs, one Verizon and one T-mobile. I was going to use the tmobile sim but can't find it)

Oh, I could really play Russian Roulette and pull out the Verizon sim in the middle of this process but probably not!

It certainly takes long enough to update!!!

Google security updates are now officially slower than Samsung lol. Again, my note 10 got both November and December patches on day one. We are about mid December and still waiting. Awesome.

This is just a guess but I am guessing that Google has added some of the features that was initially for the Pixel 4 line down to the Pixel 3 line with the December update and Fi is taking longer testing the new stuff.

they call these updates Security updates but that do add features at times as well. the captions feature is in the Security Update and others that I can't remember..

Dont count on that , it happens once in awhile lol .

Using another carrier's SIM may trigger an update to show up, but you may end up with an incorrect build. Sometimes Google releases separate builds for different carriers.

Still on November. My Note 10+ will probably get updated before my almighty Pixel 3a with it's super quick updates.

My 3XL on Verizon's good to go.

I'm not sure if this is because of the December security patch update or not. However, I've noticed on my 3XL that if you are in YouTube in landscape mode full screen zoomed in. then if you swipe up to go to the home screen picture and picture mode kicks in with the little mini video thumbnail on the home screen. You don't have to first go to portrait mode then swipe up for picture and picture mode. I don't remember that ever working in landscape mode. Has anyone else?

No December update on mine yet and that's show mine behaves too.
