In the fourth (or fifth - 3a series) iteration of the pixel name, the check for updates is still not 100% reliable for all? Yes I can wait for an incremental update, but wow shouldn't this basic functionality be locked in and 100% reliable (like iOS updates) at this point? It is a selling point of the pixel devices, is it not?

Seems better to me now IMO than in the past. I think we (not just you, me to a certain degree) tend to overscrutinize our Nexus/Pixel experiences over the average consumer. My wife complains that updates on her Samsung (which have been few and far between for her) ruins her experience. I'm on the other end where I'm welcoming any update that comes in. I don't get too impatient on regular updates unless it's a critical issue that they're fixing with an update.

Back to subject, I'm getting my December Security Update right now, P4XL 128 GB on Verizon.
