Decembers security patch or January

Just wanted to let you guys know that I contacted HTC tech support yesterday morning telling them about the drastic battery life change since the last update, and they pushed a new update to my phone just before noon today that was about 134 MB. I installed it and saw a big battery life improvement, with the phone going from 86% to 84% in two hours, and that included an hour of no service in a mall restaurant. I'm not sure if I'm the beta for this update today (Software number 2.42.617.6), but it definitely fixed the battery problem. I'm going to get back with HTC and let them know the results in a few.

Got the update as well. Just installed and now we shall see.

well I charge my phone all night. after an hour I'm down 11% after unplugging my phone at 7 in the morning. so I can see how it goes and a day or so. it may not fully fixed the problem

You may want to do a soft reset after the update. I did not, but it may help.
The update is working very well for me. It's lunchtime and my phone has been off the charger for 6 hours with normal use, including a little Google Maps and a lot of music with some app updates, and the battery is still at at 92%.

What's a soft reset again. That's not where you factory reset the phone is it. Is that where you just clear the chassis partition?

why did I soft reset or soft reboot. I'll see how it goes and only thing I think I can do is is clear the chassis partition

well I also a chassis partition wipe. that did not help it was only a 135 megabyte update so maybe there is more battery bugs than just one. I'm thinking about calling HTC as well and talking to the tech support.

Have you added any apps since the update, or are the apps the same as when your battery life was good? If you did add any apps after the update, I'd check them. If not, definitely contact HTC.

All my apps have been the same since basically 7.1.1 and I have not really changed anything. I will probably contact them on Monday. I have done two factory reset on side I did one after 8.0 and after the December update I guess I am going to have to call HTC then.

Okay, am I imagining things, or did this latest update revert me from the January security patch to the December one?

I don't know that last update that I remember for the security update was Decembers update.

I'm happy to say that so far, my battery life is back to where it was before the update broke things. That is to say, very good. Whew!

well after talking to HTC. and seeing how everyone here does having better battery life after the update. and to see that I've done factory data reset but least two times in the last two 2-4 months. one after 8.0 came out and one active December security patch came out. so looks like going to be sending my phone in to make sure the batteries okay if not have it replaced but it's stupid *** can take 6 to 8 weeks. but I guess it's back to my HTC 10 which seems to be doing better after the Oreo update.
