Good Day. I've been using Handcent for years until today. Their latest update today put adds in your conversation list and to remove them you must buy a subscription. I did and adds are still there. I'm looking for something with customizing features and reliable. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I use hoverchat. If you like pop up notifications, this one does it the least intrusive. Pops up a chat head. It works good for me and everyone I know that use it.

I use evolve. Not bad at all. Lots of features and customizing. Smokes stock app. Smokes Hangouts. Smokes Google Messenger. All my opinion of course.

What's missing from the stock SMS? I've tried Handcent, GoSMS and Textra and none of them made it worthwhile to switch permanently from stock. IMO anyway.

Let me rephrase. I like the stock app but haven't seen or used it since 5.0.

Evolve works good for me but it's between those two, Evolve and stock. Haven't used Textra or Chomp or any of those others. Just know that the Google offerings, Hangouts and Messenger, are sub-par in my book.
