Default Message App Error - Pulse SMS/Samsung Messaging App

My phone quit receiving MMS messages yesterday, so I tried a few fixes, including switching defaults from my current messaging app (Pulse SMS) back to Samsung's app, and now it won't let me switch back. The error message "Can't change default messaging app while transferring files" pops up. I've cleared the data/cache and done a network reset, and nothing has worked. Anybody else having a similar issue/find a solution?

If you didn't already try, try a reboot.

If that don't fix it, put the phone into airplane mode for about 2 minutes (to make sure nothing's trying to come in or out sms/MMS) and then force stop both apps you're trying to switch between.

If that doesn't work than I honestly have no other ideas on how to fix the situation as of now. I'll try to think of more and update my post
