If you watch the video posted yesterday with the Samsung Exec this release is totally up to Verizon. He made it sound like Samsung is out of it and its Verizon Call.

It would make sense for Verizon to release before the shopping rush but did they make a deal with Moto about how long after the Razr they can release the Nexus?

I think unfortunately only Apple has that kind of pull. Besides, if that was the case the Rezound would come out later also. These sort of deals are made pretty far in advance. Who knows if Motorola even knew about the Nexus coming to Verizon at the time.

It's fun to read comments by people who suggest that Google and VZW are clueless. The fact of the matter is that highly successful multi-billion dollar corporations do everything in a very deliberate and specific manner based on massive amounts of research and experience.

Google only has one nexus a year what's your point?

That's true. However, the Nexus line unfortunately doesn't have near the brand recognition or demand with the average consumer that the iPhone does. As such it doesn't make for a good bargaining chip with VZW.

Please read my point again. The Nexus isn't the only Android device. There are countless android devices. On the whole they represent a lot, but there's no single Android device that's even close to the brand recognition/marketing power of the Apple iPhone.

I'm not sure why this concept is so difficult for people to understand.

That is true I think Google should work to try and get it better recognized like the iPhone.

Okay... but that doesn't change the fact that most people don't know about the device, that there are countless Android devices, and that no single Android phone manufacture has the marketing/brand leverage of Apple. Leverage is what I've been talking about.

I love Android. It's the best platform, but I'm under no illusions about what device has the most recognition. That's the iPhone.

No one is trying to imply anything like that. But at what point do we give them some credit for knowing what they are doing? It's not like Google and VZW are successful on accident.

And how would releasing the phone in December be a "mistake"? When we take our individual selfish impatience out of the picture there is nothing wrong with the way this phone is being launched.

Everyone just needs to chill. Freaking out won't get the phone released any faster.

Not Clueless, but be certain large corporations do make major blunders. Case in point Logitech reported that they potentially lost $100 Million + on "Google TV". So much for deliberate and specific research.

Anyhow, I tend to agree with "Nemov" I highly doubt this phone will make significant sales numbers, in fact I will go ahead and say this might be a "Dud" as far as sales go. Mind you I am getting this phone and am excited about getting it, patience has its rewards.

A contact of mine here in NC told me that the Nexus could be Delayed until December!!! He told that this has been going around the office. The reason behind it is that Verizon does not have any strong phone release for December and the Galaxy Nexus will fit in as a Top Notch phone for the month of December. November has the Motorola RazR and HTC rebound. I am still praying for a November release but it is up to Verizon.

Phil or BMX have you heard this?

The whole point of releasing the phone in the week of Black Friday is to create Christmas sales. If they wait after Black Friday then consumer's dollars would possibly go elsewhere.

Not the same contact. The one I was talking about the yesterday is a store Rep that give me some inside info. sometimes. He has been accurate. But this guy works in Greensboro, NC In Verizon's Corporate offices. I met him at a PeopleSoft Class there. I would take his word He has been on point with everything from the Droid X to the Bionic with the info. he feeds me. I just got in from messing with the Razr at my local Verizon and one of the reps there not my contact at the store said that it is a possibility. So I have to wait and see. that is why I was wondering if BMX and Phil heard anything about it?

When we take our individual selfish impatience out of the picture there is still the immovable force called Christmas Consumerism and it's finite window. Come January and February, retail will be crying for people to come and spend money. Nobody has explained a strategy that makes sense of leaving a sellable new item in the warehouse and not putting it on the sales floor by the time Christmas shopping starts.

Plain and simple, either this thing is for sale by Black Friday, or Verizon does not have it.

they have other phones for sale.. not everything is pushed into the holiday window.. infact since when did nexus dev phones become holiday gifts? parents and family dont go buy their kids nexus phones for gifts.. and who else buys phones for the holidays?

this is a technerd phone.. we are all excited about it.. its not a christmas marketable phone.

Verizon could careless about black friday, or even Xmas for that matter.. they have 2 brand new phones to cover that.

and I for one am a very impatient person.. like the most impatient person I know.. I also have an upgrade and 300 dollars burning holes in both my pockets.. tax returns are right around the corner.. I have no more extra money in dec then i do any other month of the year.. except for the occasional xmas bonus of 2k but not alot of people get those.

Im saying even though Verizon might lose some xmas sales of the nexus.. those sales will go to other phones in their line up anyhow.. and is whatever missed sales worth more to them then having a top tier phone to market when their isnt the razr and rezound around to wow customers..

its basically shooting its whole load.. if it isnt for the fact that they said its coming this year then I wouldnt for a second believe it is and either way its a horrible business decision for Verizon to not hold onto this phone.

releasing 3 major phones in a 10 day period is ridiculous.

Why is that ridiculous? The reason they suddenly have 3 major phones to release in such a short period of time is because their LTE rollout has put them a little behind in terms of hardware and if it wasn't for the fact that LG is slow to release new phones they'd have 4. I don't fault Verizon at all for concentrating on the LTE rollout before they focused on dual-core phones, however now that they can do both it's time to release them.

Once Verizon has all 3 of these phones plus LG's dual-core LTE phone and the D4, they will have the best selection of phones out there and I don't think they'll be hurting in sales just because they don't have a brand new phone coming out every single month.

Doubtful. I don't think most carriers launch top tier devices in December. Usually the month of December is used to market any deals and discounts on existing devices.

Theres a reason the RAZR and Rezound are launching 3 days apart. They have a window they want these three devices out by. If Verizon wanted this for December, they would be launching the Rezound much later than they are.

Pushing the actual launch into December doesn't do anything other than give holiday consumers one less week to buy it.

Yes, there is something wrong with how it is being launched.

The only thing I can say is look at how Apple launches a phone.

They have an event.
At that event they announce the device, the price, the pre-order date, and the release date.

Pre-order date occurs, people pre-order.

Release date occurs, people buy the phone/receive the phone.

All of this happens in about 3 weeks. At Google's event, we got a device announcement and THAT'S IT. Verizon offered a sign up page on their site and have not said a thing since.

There is most definitely something wrong with how they are launching this phone. Apple does it right, Google does not.

Yeah and remember, that advertising/marketing schedule had the Nexus' campaign starting Black Friday and into December. Doesn't mean they can't release the Nexus online.
