Delay my phone being locked

I'm on an s8, but this could really apply anywhere

So the way I have set up my phone is when the proximity sensor is covered,the screen stays off, I do this so I can easily flip my case open or lift up the phone on my bedside table and just check for notifications. The problem is I also want to use things like Gpay but I find that I have to unlock my screen every single time because despite setting up smart lock for my house, the proximity app I'm using locks me out of my phone.

I just want to be able to unlock my phone and keep it unlocked for the time I use it, after I stop using it for say 5 minutes, it locks itself again

Open the device Settings of your phone.

Tap on Display>Sleep/ Screen time out. Then select the option of you choice. In your case select 5 mins.
