I just got the Dell Venue 8 7000 series tablet. So far I am a happy camper, except for wanting more storage can thankfully be done withe a micro SD card. I would appreciate advice as to speed, brand to buy. Also am not sure if the micro SD card is shaped like the one in my phone and camera (a flat, square design), or if the Dell requires the type which is not a perfectly square shape on each side?

Pretty much all devices nowadays use the microSD format. Older cameras might use Compact Flash, which is square (and pretty much obsolete). Reliable brands include SanDisk, Toshiba, Samsung, and Lexar (among others)--but it's important to purchase from a reputable seller (and not some random seller on eBay), since counterfeit cards are fairly common. Class 10 should provide more than adequate performance.

Thanks for the heads up on this. My cameras all take the square shape one but my Dell Venue 8 tablet came out less than a year.
