I'm planning on getting the HTC Inspire 4G sometime after its release on Feb 13. I know it is an American Desire HD with HSPA+. My question is, besides battery life, are there any other known issues I should be aware of? Or is the device so solidly built that I should have no worries purchasing the Inspire and owning it for 2 years? I want to be sure I'm buying a solid device and not be disappointed within the 2 years I will definitely have the device. All responses are greatly appreciated.:D:cool:

The battery life is not really a problem for me. Only thing tho, I wish the speaker volume would be more like that of the regular Desire. So unless a good speaker volume is REALLY important to you, go for it (I'm talking about the Desire HD of course, I have a european one, not sure about the Inspire).

I'm thinking this will be my next upgrade when Telus releases it here.

In regards to volume, doesn't the HTC promo video show it ringing loudly when it's hidden away in a bag so you can hear it? So why is it an issue? False advertising?

Thanx for your input! I understand you not really knowing about the Inspire, but it's definately a Desire HD with HSPA+ and ATT logo. I've been wanting a Desire HD since it came out last fall and ATT is not changing anything about its appearance, 'cept for their logo on it.:D So, I was sold, now I'm very much sold on the Inspire 4G!:D Thanx!:)

Haven't seen the commercial, don't think it's false advertising. It's a matter of comparison, every phone has a different speaker volume capability. As for the hidden away thing, isn't it an HTC Sense-specific feature? They could say it rings LOUDER than it NORMALLY would when its tucked away, but that doesn't say anything about it's max volume capability. It's a known fact that the DHD has a relatively lower speaker volume. If you compare it to the regular Desire, it is much lower.

That doesn't bother me much tho, that's why I love this beast and would recommend it to anyone. Besides that little downside, it blows away the competition.

Na, I think it is important for some more than others. I'm not too concerned about it, though. I can deal with it after having "dumb" phones since 2001 when I got my first cellphone. Just having my first smartphone will be awesome. I'm treating it just like a laptop purchase, gonna pay for the specs I want up front and be happy for up to 4 years. I have a 2008 HP laptop I custom ordered for $1800 and it may be outclassed now, but it is certainly not obsolete yet.:) Another 2 years and yes, it will be obsolete and I'll be ready for another custom ordered laptop. lol Just from m3kyd's post, it's now crystal clear to me that the purchase of the Inspire is gonna be worth every penny!:D

I have had a desire HD for about 6 weeks. It is brilliant. I have a 5000mah rechargable battery pack from NewTrent which is used when I am reading an ebook for a long time such as a 4 hour flight. Volume is loud enough - too loud even. I installed a free 'Volume Control' from AM by RevoSolutionary. It stops the keyboard vibrating and buzzing while other audios continue to work at the volume you choose - just set system to no volume. I have had some fun learning to handle Android but it has been pretty forgiving of my mistakes. I had to do a factory reset at one point and recover from backup - all went as expected.
