[DEV] LeWaOS Port

Oh dear. I hope not... I don't know anything about kernels, sadly.

If it really has to do with a kernel, this may have to be put on hold till someone makes one (hopefully BobZhome shows interest in his unfinished Slider CM7 rom again)

I'm sure Gannon wouldn't mind sharing his work again.

Okay for the bad news.

It looks like we'll need CM7 unless someone can guide me into fixing it without CM7.

Dang it.

EDIT: this is one of those moments when I wish I knew more than I do. If anyone shows interest in helping me fix this I can upload the most recent flashable zip that I made to mediafire or something .

Yeah, did I forget to mention that LeWa runs off of CM7? Sorry. If you need any help, don't fear to ask me. I love helping people.

I would like some help if you don't mind.

I'm still quite new to ROMs and stuff (only started about a month and a half ago), sorry.

But something I *think* noticed was that the version that you made bootlooped in the bootanimation while mine won't get past the LG logo, but I'm not sure if I'm just imagining this or not.

What did you do to make that so (if you remember)?

Thank you so much.

I believe I might have put out 2 zips for you to try (because you didn't want to put the libandroid_runtime.so in it yourself) so you're going to have to find out which one it was. Everything in that guide I PM'ed you about is what I did basically.

That's weird, so I guess it is a CM7 thing because I did everything that guide said too.

I don't have the zips anymore sadly. I had to restore my computer a while ago and I also switched SD cards and lost my old one.

Well I'll make another one if I get around to it tonight. which ROM should I use as a base?

Bob did start a CM7 rom for the Slider but is now more focused on IHO and CM9 for the OV. His files for the work on the Slider are still in his github repo from what I've heard, and someone mentioned that most of what has to be fixed now is mainly libs files for it to work. I really wish someone experienced enough could continue where he left off, CM7 will turn things around for the Slider. Just imagine IHO on the Slider ^-^

Yeah, CM7 would open up a door of ROM opportunities.

I couldn't do it and I don't know any other Android geeks in real life so I'm kinda useless when it comes to that.

Mobster ROM was what I was using.

Thank you so much. Would you like the fixed SystemUI.apk that I made for it, too?

I strongly suggest working with the stock rom, that could be part of the reason it wouldn't boot before, Gelato and Mobster aren't exactly stock but in fact they're flashed over the stock rom. Remember those won't boot unless the stock rom was installed first.

oh okay, I can try my fabulous stock ROM this time!

EDIT: I made it and it's based off of the stock ROM and the only changes are that it supports root

I would love to attempt to try building from what Bob had for CM7, but I really can't do dev work for a phone that I don't own... sorry.

It's cool, if I had a working Linux laptop with the proper build environment set up, I wouldn't mind learning what needs to be done, I have way too much free time on my hands.

It's okay.

I wish I knew how to do that... but I don't even know where to start lol.

Okay. So right now it's my objective to get it past the LG screen. Tried to with Fabulous stock and it didn't work, but I think I'll continue working with Fab Stock bc the only difference from stock is Superuser.

I wish LG didn't do such a sloppy job on the sources for the Slider.. but if we all got this far with the OV why can't we do the same with this device? We need a motivated genius who has and loves this device :(
