Android Central Question

I have a galaxy J3 eclipse and every once in awhile my dialpad won't work during a call. I can enter numbers, but it doesn't register and will just repeat the list. I have restarted my phone and that seems to fix the problem temporarily, but it comes back. I have checked for updates and I'm not sure what else to do. It only seems to really happen when my boyfriend tries to call me from jail. Is there anything else I can try before looking at replacing my phone?

Welcome to Android Central! Are you talking about the ability to press a keypad number for an in-call menu (e.g., "dial 0 to speak to an operator")? What do you mean that the number doesn't register, and it "will just repeat the list"? Do you mean the voice prompt to dial certain numbers to get to certain menu options?

Open the Phone app, tap Menu>Settings>Call Settings, and look for an option for DTMF tones. If you find it, set it to Long and see if that helps.

When you tap the keypad during the call, do you hear the keypad tone over the earpiece speaker?
