got an available update for the lock screen. I assume to fix the Houdini trick the phone dialer button pulled. Tried to download it and it just wouldn't progress even over wifi. Hit cancel and went to do it again with same results. Hit cancel 1 more time and went back again and the update is gone.

Anyone else see the update and have any issues?

Yeah thats what it is telling me now also. The update was described on screen as "lock screen"
Maybe it was getting hit too hard due to launch or they found a problem with it and pulled it back down.

Hey guys I just now tried the update and my phone is downloading the update...seems like it is back so I would update while you can.

I tried a download and it just hangs on 1/4 updating apps and at 0/8kb for the first update. It wont progress at all. i did a factory reset and i still get the updates hanging

It's just downloading and installing slow. Give it 10-15 minutes.....all those new Evo owners are updating right now too.

I was having same issues...switched on 4G and downloaded right away. (and my 4G signal is horrible) So try the 4G if you got it.

It didn't fix the lock screen Phone icon being missing...all other icons work...I am not factory resetting this thing lol.

Mine finally worked on wifi! I have already done 3 factory resets on this phone. I hope that isnt hurting anything, it shouldnt, should it?

I just unplugged the battery and restarted and the phone icon is back again. So if you get the NEW NEW update try that prior to factory resetting.

Actually it did fix the phone issue. You just have to reboot for it to appear.

I installed and went to the lockscreen settings. Showed it there but it was missing. I triedvadding it. Adding a differentvapp first then putting phone back. Like you nothing worked so I figured why not power off and back on. Phone is back now.

No factorybreset necessary.

It did say to restart the phone after installing if you clicked "details" when prompted to download.

After restart, phone icon is back.

I think i have updated the new new one? It had 4 updates to make so hoping that was the one for now, haha. I did it post factory update though. Multiple factory updates shouldnt affect anythign, should it? Even though i kept starting/stoping the download prior to that? I know I am being paranoid but this phone rocks and I am going to baby it for awhile, haha

This worked for me..

download the update
reapply the phone dialer icon in lock screen settings (it won't show up)
Restart the phone and it shows up

I'm amazed how fast HTC is coming out with updates to fix these little things for us...this is clearly the phone to have and HTC/Sprint knows it.

I agree that the download/install took a while. I though it wasn't working too and eventually left it alone. I came back and it was all done. I manually restarted and now the phone is back (I had the bug that others had too). HTC is not letting us down. Other manufactures wait forever for little fixes/patches, I gotta hand it to HTC, they work hard.

I just did the upgrade and it took literally 15 seconds to download both updates and apply them to the phone. So far so good!

I like to see these fast response times from HTC with updates so far! Here's to hoping it continues!

LOL I am new to the Android phones (coming from Palm pre) and turning off the screen is not a reboot.

That was my mistake...glad everyone figured it out...still learning the Android ins and outs.

for those of you that have been on HTC, is this there standard practice? Make updates available as soon as they find a bug?

Coming from previous Palm phones, and the lasted a Palm Pre, anyone who was with Palm for a length of time knows how quickly Palm responded.

Generally, but not this quickly. HTC Sense 3.0 enables this upgrade ability that lets them upgrade tiny pieces of the OS, without having to do full blown updates. Just like Mac and Windows computers, they update small sections as bugs are found.

It's an awesome way to do things, and it's great to be part of the first of its implementation.
