I have been using do not disturb for a long time now. Especially when I was in Oreo. I use it for sleep and work mostly... I have set up automatically.

But since I updated to Pie. I realized that the do not disturb do not mute calls and Sounds, like if I send a message on WhatsApp, it makes a noise. I have to mute the sound myself.

It doesn't make sounds when I receive WhatsApp messages, it does when I send them and last night, phone rang while on do not disturb. Does that means I have to remember to mute the phone and unmute? If that's the case, that will be annoying.

I've actually seen the system show a tip about the new Do Not Disturb changes. Go to Settings>Sound>Do Not Disturb>Notifications, and select "No sound from notifications." There are other customizations you can make as well.

It seems like we have to take many more steps in order to go totally silent. In Oreo we had a drop-down function within the quick-access menu that allowed us to select do not disturb as we had the settings customize, or total silence, which, as it sounds would block all sounds and notifications. I will say I miss that feature when I want to take a quick, uninterrupted nap or when I am at the movies.

You can modify what Do Not Disturb turns off in Settings>Sound>Do Not Disturb. Tap Sound & Vibration under the Behavior heading and turn off the Media switch. This should also mute any media sounds when you turn on Do Not Disturb.

This is a total fail by Google. Being able to totally mute my phone in church or a movie was nice while also having the ability to silence my phone (except for Favorites) in bed. Now Google is forcing me to each time go into the DND settings and make multiple changes. No idea why they would eliminate "total silence" and make it all DND.

Whatsapp Calls Constantly Disturb us at times that are inappropriate, even unsafe such as Driving, please sign this petition to make sure Whatsapp honours the Do Not Disturb option on our Mobile phones or it introduces its own Do Not Disturb option
