Did factory reset of android. Can I retrieve my text messages?

This is a family member's phone:

Is there a way to retrieve lost text messages? She had the app SMS Backup+ on the phone and it was backing up to Gmail and sending to the 'sent' folder. she complained that this was happening and all texts going to her gmail sent folder and wanted to stop this and I didn't realize she had this backup app on her phone. She never downloads any apps.

I didn't realize the app was doing this or that it was even installed so I did a filter to stop texts and call logs from going into her gmail sent folder.

Now she was having network issues with the phone and I ended up doing a factory reset. I saw this app on her phone and figured it would backup the text.

Well, it didn't. I reinstalled the app and only texts on their now are the new ones coming in.

Is it possible to retrieve the old texts that were backed up before doing the factory reset?

Depending on your carrier, when you sign back in, you will be able to get a look back period of I believe 3 to 6 months from the major providers.
