Did Moto kill the X because of the Turbo?

I am getting better battery life than the S5 I had, and it blows away when it comes to performance and moto seem to really have hit the nail on the head in antenna design. I get stronger signal at home than the s5 if I was to to by signal strength. I was on pace to getting 4 hours + screen on time but I have day off from work so never really got around to testing it out. Tomorrow a day at work. I will gone from 9:30 in the morning to 9 at night. So we will see how it lasts. I am sure it will be better than the s5.

Just curious, what carrier?

I guess I don't really understand all the gushing for the Turbo. I feel the only discussion should be between the new Moto X and the Nexus 6. On that note I just got my new custom Moto X last night in the mail and love the leather back. Still kinda pissed they announced the Nexus 6 on Verizon the day before I received my new X.

I brought up the Turbo in my OP because I personally feel Moto left a bit on the table with the X and really beefed up the Turbo. As others have pointed out the Turbo is Verizon's baby sporting the Droid name but I am still a bit sour about it. They gave the Turbo the bigger (much bigger) battery, the bigger processor, and we can assume a better camera. However, after another poster pointed out they are also designed for different markets and that makes sense too. Giving the X the specs of the Turbo would have been great though, especially the battery.

The 2013 Moto X has a smaller screen and smaller battery than the 2013 DROID MAXX. The DROID MAXX was also more expensive.

Ahh, good call Ry. I wasn't aware of that, thanks for pointing it out.

One thing you guys are leaving out is the rumor of the moto x play. Which is the same exact build and specs of the droid turbo.... But has the radios that look like it will be released for t-mobile and AT&T. I'm personally waiting just because it makes sense to wait and then make a decision.

This is the first I've heard of this device. The Turbo and others designed liked it ala MAXX feel horrible in the hand while the Moto X 2013 and 2014 even with the larger screen feel incredible in your hand. At this point my only TRUE complaint of the new Moto X is the lack of being able to make a call and use data at the same time on Verizon anyway. This once again has nothing to do with VoLTE as I was able to do this on the Moto X 2013 on Verizon.

So this will be what? A Motorola made phone, or a Google made phone (a Nexus branded phone announced down the line?)

Feel is in the hand of the beholder. I love the feel of my wife's Maxx..even when not in her hand!

Any recent links to this rumor?

Yes please, cause this would be the first year that a VZW exclusive device was sold on other carriers, even by a different name. One exception, the OG Droid and Droid 2 Global was sold as Milestone over seas but not available to the other big 3 carriers in the States.

So the only sources of a non-Verizon Droid Turbo I could find were all reporting on a recent FCC filing that detailed a device matching the Turbo in specs but with AT&T/T-Mo compatible radios (i.e., a GSM phone). This does not mean the device is due for release here, however. Remember that a "Sprint Moto X" also passed through the FCC months ago, and we've not seen hide nor hair of such a unicorn since. Sometimes companies run phones through the FCC just to check off an approval box for future consideration, or so they can market a foreign release as US compatible.

Here's the link to the FCC docs in case anyone wants to poke around: https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/repo...rame=N&application_id=186964&fcc_id=IHDT56PK2

I agree, I did not like the feel in hand of the 2013 Maxx. The back of the Turbo looks a bit more rounded, hopefully that will help!

I also didn't like the blown up 720p screen, looked like a Moto X with accessibility settings turned on. Everything looked too big on the launcher.
