Dilemma on Store Credit.

I ordered the watch during the Google Event. I had no expectation that I would be buying the 7 Pro and that I would get a $200 Store Credit. When I learned about the $200 store credit, I checked to see if I could cancel my order, but the watch already shipped.

So here's my dilemma. Do I return the watch unopened and rebuy it with the store credit? I don't see myself purchasing anything from Google over the next year. I have the Pixel Buds Pro. The Smart home stuff doesn't interest me.

My thoughts exactly about the watch bands -- they're pretty expensive, and it's unclear how many 3rd party bands will become available over time, so that would be a decent use of the credit.

Example... Would look REALLY good with this watch, and would be a lot easier to buy with Google's money than my own (I know that's a back-handed way to look at it, but I'm choosing to do it anyway)

Yep, that's what I was thinking of. I like a watch to look like a classy watch, not as a fitness accessory, so I'd definitely go for that band (or I would hope that a 3rd party one would become available)!

A tad to 'manly' for a 5'1" woman, but good idea about bands. I have a few for my fitbit, so it would be nice to get some other colors for my new watch.

As to bands, you'll find something you like. Even if you don't see something now, it's a matter of time

While you can get a cheap traditional stainless steel watch bands for as little as $20, it's very clear you get what you're paying for. A high quality SS band can easily run $100+. I agree Google's seem quite overprice, but compared to Apple's SS bands running $350-$450, they're a bargain.

On a separate note, I'm really surprised Google opted only to offer a premium stainless steel watch body... Apple and Samsung have their models starting in aluminum to present a more reasonable entry level cost. Had Google done that, they could have brought their offering forward in the $250-$300 or $300-$400 range and been subject to less criticism over their pricing for their first watch.

I already did the same. Returned the watch and ordered another one with $200 Store credit.
