Dimensions? Also, thoughts on D3

Hi all,

My upgrade is this Friday and I'm planning on ordering a Droid 3 via the phone/online ASAP - assuming it's available on Thursday as rumoured. However, I was wondering if there have been any dimensions revealed other than the depth (0.5")? My wife has an Inc2 and I have an OG Droid, so I'm imagining a cross between the two.

I know there are a lot of people looking down on the D3, and I kinda get it, but the guts seem to be an almost exact match for LG's Optimus 3D... a device that's been very positively received. I think the DDR2 memory is key, so I'm trying not to sweat the 512MB vs. 768MB/1GB seen on other handsets (such as the Inc2). As for the Pentile screen, well, fingers-crossed it better than the X2's (which is horrible in my experience). The combination of qHD and 512MB might be troubling - I don't know, my tech understanding isn't deep enough to know whether memory is a choke for day-to-day pixel-crunching.

Also, I never thought I'd want another physical keyboard, but have recently discovered an awesome use for my ol' OGD's slider - remote keyboard/mouse for my PC when it's hooked up to the TV. The physical keys are much more convenient in that setup than onscreen keys.

I think there are a lot of VZW users that have built the Bionic up (in their minds) to be all dominating and in a league of its own. Thus having a disproportionately dim view of the D3 (and every other phone VZW will offer for the next 6 months.)

Personally, if the D3 does what it is claimed to do, with nothing glaringly off from expectations (again, based on the info we know) I think it will be a completely competent phone that will work well for a 2 yr contract.

We will see. I am excited to check it out myself.

Well in terms of thickness I have read its .3mm thinner than the Droid Charge (with a standard battery) and that is a pretty thin phone, I just sold my Charge tonight and will ship it out once I get the D3.

Performance and screen, the Charge has 512MB and I doubt its DDR2 but it holds its own day to day and I have looked at the Atrix pentile which is also 4" and it looks better than the DX2. Here's to hoping all goes well.

FWIW: If this is correct, then those are the exact dimensions of a DX if the phone was fully the thickness of the camera hump. Kinda big for only a 4" screen? I guess the extra piece hanging low on the keyboard side of the phone is where the extra length is .... D3 is BIG.

Its smaller than the droid x. Its about the same size of a samsung fascinate.

Its about .04 inches thicker than the charge. Which still isnt bad, its .06 inches less than the d1 or d2.
